No Time Like Novel Time

Since most of the members on this site are so literate and well-read, I figure that since I have to chose a novel for my English class, what better place to get an opinion than YWS?

Here's the list:

Frankenstein - Mary Shelley (the 1831 edition)
The Scarlet Pimpernel - Baroness Orczy
Night - Elie Wiesel
Cry the Beloved Country - Alan Paton

So, which would you suggest I choose? I'm leaning towards Frankenstein, but only because I haven't heard of the rest. I'd love to read one of the other novels, but I don't want to make the mistake of choosing one that I'll fall asleep to while reading.
Also, has anyone read Night? My teacher made it sound somewhat interesting, and I'd like to know what it's about.

Night is a book written by a Holocaust survivor. Not a happy read, but amazing. It was gorgeously written. I cried so many times when reading that book.
Keep in mind -- it is a very explicit Holocaust book. It is gruesome and hard to read at some point. I wanted to read it because I'm half Jewish. I don't know if it would interest you as much, but it is worth it.

Frankenstein -- I haven't read it myself, and I'd be interested to see what you think of it.

Scarlet Pimpernel -- Honestly? I found this book boring.

Cry the Beloved Country -- On race relations in South Africa, if I remember correctly. If that interests you, go ahead and read it.

I recommend either Night or Frankenstein.

Night does sound very good (if not sad), so I'm really considering that now.
After this assignment I'm probably going to read Frankenstein just for the heck of it.

Hi Anti-Pop! I hope I'm not too late for a suggestion! Although my suggestion is the same as yours, really!

Frakenstein - I think this one would be the one I would choose. I have not read it yet, but hearing from my friends, it's a 'great' book! If you're going to read that, PM me to tell me if it's worth a good read! I'd like to know.

Night - I read Night, and like Haruno Sakura said, it's a huge tearjerker. I tried my best not to cry at some scenes Worth a read as well, Pop!

Scarlet Pimpel & Cry of the Beloved Country - I'm afraid I haven't read these books yet, nor have I heard anything about them.

My suggestions would be Night or Frakenstein, although I prefer Night out of the two.
