Firstly, I'm sorry if I've posted this message onto the wrong noticeboard, I'm not sure where it should go.
Basically, I am writing a novel and cannot easily define which genre it would fall into, and so I was hoping somebody could maybe help.
Basically, my novel is about a successful old(ish) accountant and single father who gets a letter from his daughter, who he hasn't made much time for in her adolescence, that says she is going to get married and leave the UK with her husband.
And so, our main character enlists the help of one of his oldest friends, a lady with no reputable living who is obsessed with self-help books etc., and they head to Birmingham together to see the daughter.
On the way they meet a hiker who is a bit wacky but teaches them a lot about life.
What type of genre is this novel?
