dear God,
I'm feeling dark inside,
and small and hurt and weak inside.
I need a place to crawl and hide:
a safe, still harbour at your side
where unknown balm and peace abide,
and loving arms are opened wide.
dear God,
I feel an ache inside,
a painful, shattered break inside.
I need to hear my doubts denied
and see you catch the tears I've cried.
I need to feel your balm applied
to hurts I can't touch, though I've tried.
dear God,
I've little hope inside,
and barely any faith inside:
I need to know you're teary-eyed
and see past all the lies I've lied,
and know this lost child needs a guide.
I need a soul to walk beside.
dear God,
I'm desperate inside.
I'm trembling on my knees inside.
I don't know what to do, beside
returning to the tears I've cried
or wasted remedies I've tried.
I've reached my end, it's cut and tied,
dear God,
I need you at my side.
dear child,
he whispers, teary-eyed,
I AM.
