What a great first day. I mean, first I set my hair on fire (it was put out in time that I didn’t lose anything, darn blow dryer), then I nearly break my leg on the stairs. Oh, and I was going to miss the first three periods for traffic. I guess it could have gone worse— Oops. Knock on wood. So yeah, things had gone just swell.
Here we were, sitting in our insanely hot Jeep, the middle of traffic, just me and Dad. Whoopee. I gazed out the window and sighed.
“Hey, Kiddo, it’s not going to be so bad,” said Dad as he turned up the AC. He still didn’t get that it was broken.
Yeah, but I still think it was better when I could walk downstairs in my pajamas and have Mom teach me, I thought. In my pajamas. Alone. Why doesn’t he get that I’m shy??
Once the traffic jam got moving again it turned out we had only been a block from my new school. This was going to feel so weird.
“You’re going to be great,” he said as I got out of the car and grabbed my luggage. He gave me a kiss on the cheek on drove away. I watched with longing eyes. He left me. I sighed and grabbed my stuff.

Uh, I think she needs a dorm room, but I’m not sure if that’s how this school works…. Uhhhh….
