the two obvious ones- Edgar Allen Poe and Robert Frost
my personal (as of this moment) favorite are-

Emily Browning (How do I love thee? Let me count the ways...)
Lord Byron (She Walks In Beauty)
George Herbert (Love Bade Me Welcome)

I know I have more, just can't think of any at the moment.

Stephen Crane. I don't know how many poems he has all together, but he has an exquisite poem called, "The Desert" that I love.

Lol, I'm kidding. Well I quite like the poem attached to this post, but I forgot to note who wrote it ;) If someone knows, get back to me... mainly because I can't find it anywhere. :o

If you like Poe than you'll like his french counterpart Charles Baudelaire.
You should also check out the beat poets ( Ginsberg, Kerouac, Ferlinghetti, and Corso).
Oh, and definitely Dylan Thomas.
Why was I born with such contemporaries?

Haha.

The best poets I've read are all shadows - orphans, vandals, you name it - whose names nobody will ever know.

My favourite is Candice James, Willfred Owen, John Keats, Sir Walter Scott, Alfred Lord Tennyson. Candice James is a modern poet but she's amazing!
