I know some things aren't good so please review it :] THANKS

Sweet Lies

I think it’s about time you knew,
How much pain you put me through.

Each lie breaks me into smaller pieces,
As the trust I have for you decreases.

Don’t know why I always come back.
All those good qualities that you lack.

Maybe because you’re better than this.
You were so sweet before, that guy I miss.

Why can’t you be like you used to?
When what you said was at least true.

Never would you tell a lie.
You crossed your heart and hoped to die.

Your words don’t mean a thing anymore.
You’re not the same boy I used to adore.

When will you go back to your old ways?
You’re lying schemes have got me in a haze.

No longer do you have your charms.
The ones that keep me in your arms.

Yet I still love you with all my heart.
Someway, somehow we’ll get a new start.

I feel hope in my veins when you tell me you love me.
Somewhere deep down I know you’re speaking honestly.

Just how far down does that feeling go?
It’s hard to tell, but soon I’ll know.

It’s up to you to make us last.
Just keep your sweet lies all in the past.

Alright. Here's the scoop. My first reactiton to your poem was probably not the response you want your reader to think. As I read farther in your poem, my first reaction didn't change. I'm hoping that that was not your goal to accomplish. But basically, your piece screams "Teenage angst!!" Which is quite fine if that's what you have in mind. I understand the feelings you portrayed in the poem and let me applaud you on that. :smt038 Good. At least I made you smile. Second off, where's the punctuation? Poems actually DO have punctuation, especially if you use enjambment )continuing writing a thought which continues on a different line and ends at a period or pauses at a comma.) Basically, I thought this poem was very cliche, like most novice pieces are, but in turn, who could blame you? You're expressing your feelings, just like I would or anyone else. So as a piece that illustrates emotions well, this poem is absolutely perfect. Nice job and keep on trying!!

I hope I didn't let you down too much. Sometimes my critiques tend to be a bit harsh. Partially because I get the same harsh critiques back.

-♥ Steph

Keep at it!!

See I feel like it doesn't HAVE to be all "Teenage Angst" and honestly the only reason it screams that to me is because the rhyming scheme feels really elementary for what you are trying to describe. It's almost like you wrote this on a whim and didn't reread it kind of thing. That can sound cruel if you did work hard on it, and for that I apologize, just personally I do enjoy these corny love poems and this one just felt like it was corny but in a very generic way. Like I said I really feel like if you changed the rhyming scheme it could sound much better and the message could be payed attention to more and not so much the childish feel you get from reading it.

Keep up the good work though, we appreciate you posting. Thank you for sharing with us and I do hope to see more soon.

Okay, as i was reading it I also got the same impression. This is a cliche, love you so much, I hope we get another chance poem. Its teenage love angst. There is no other way to put it. You used some very overused lines in this poem. You'd never lie/you crossed your heart and hoped to die. That is SO cliche. There are some other lines in here that I know that are similar. It might be acceptable if it had been original, but I felt that it wasn't. I also felt that you forced your poem to rhyme and thats never a good thing. If you can do it successfully great, but NEVER EVER force it. It also gave it an elementary feel as I was reading it. This poem needs some major editing, but it could be fixed. Sorry if I'm harsh, but its only to help your poetry. Its nothing personal. Good luck and remember that practice makes perfect.
