The High Above
Everyone looks
To a higher pow’r,
Be it almighty God
Or a twinkling star.
Whether wishes are thought of
With candles outblown
Or in the quiet of church
Their nature unknown
Any can reason
There’s something out there
To hear silent pleading
And listen to prayers.
For we would not ask
If we believed it in vain
That only mortal efforts
Desires be attained.
The Omnipotent or wives tales
The methods concur,
From high above does fortune come
Not just efforts yours.
