Ok so I have this character, his name is Wedge. He grew up in a rich household, with parents that were cruel, somehow his sister winds up passing away (I'm working on it) and then his fiance'. At this point his name is William by the way, Wedge is a nickname.
But anyway, he runs off and joins a group of bandits who are in a way the main characters in my story.
My question is this, I am debating making him blind. Now should he have been blind his whole life or maybe go blind in the story or maybe even during the second...if I even get that far.
Being blind would make a good excuse for him to get picked on in his family's home, and a good target for Slade, the villian. BUT, whenever I picture his fiance' I always picture her being beautiful and that being one of the many reasons he loved her. Also, Slade does some pretty horrible things and if he could see them he's hate him even more. A good thing for a hero/villain relationship. Also being a nomadic bandit, being blind would be a huge road block.
So what is you guy's opinions? What should I do?!
