It didn't take long for the time to collapse when I heard the fast approaching foot-steps climb up the stairs and formed a shadow at my door. The air was heavy and felt like I couldn't breathe, as if it was full of carbon dioxide rather then oxygen. Everything had came to a silent halt, waiting to see what was to happen. My endless sobs shushed, and the usual wind that pushes up against my window waited patiently outside. My body sat against the heading of my bed, trembling at my broken heart's terror.
It was then that the room exploded. My door knob twisted and turned in an angered connotation. My door cried at the loud bangs and hollers that broke its fragile body. Tears flooded my face once again as I stood up prepared for anything.
"HARLEMMMMM! OPEN THIS DOOR!"
I couldn't speak. I was choking on a mixture of horror and tears.
"HARLEM I SWEAR IF YOU DON'T OPEN THIS DOOR, I'LL KILL YOU. YOU HEAR ME??!?!"
I walked over to the door, parallel, touching the wall that separate, what seemed like a monster to me, my own father. My fingers fell over the crack that was starting to form the in middle, and then wiped away the overwhelming amount of tears across my freckled, pale face.
"...Harly?"
No. Not my beautiful baby sister.
"...Isabelle ,sweetie, no you can't be here right now. Do me a favor kay hun?"
"Why you crying Harly"
"Its nothing, Go back to your room."
The bangs continued and the door's crack was getting bigger and bigger.
"Will it make you happy?"
The door split in half.
"Yes now go now. Please, pretty baby."
"HARLEM!"
I turned around. His face was apple red and his breathe was heavy. His shoulders were tense and his nostrils flared. The muscles he works on every morning pulsed. Isabelle stood in front of me with a dubious face. No, no, no, no.
He grabbed me. His fingers pressed into my arm spending a surge of pain run throughout my body. I pushed out a slow breathe and gave one last glance at my precious little sister as she stood in between the door of the jack-and-jill bathroom with a wide-eyed expression. I failed. I tried to protect her and it wasn't enough.
My fathers hits felt like bullets but blended into one painful punch. I looked up at my father, the monster. For the final time tonight, he grabbed my arms, slammed me onto the wall, and let me fall.
My vision began to blur and blacken as Isabelle crept up beside me. She laid her head on my lap and I forced my hand on her head. Then everything grew dark and the wind pushed up against my window once again.
