A/N: The White Man's Burden was a poem that we read in my history class. As an assignment for extra credit, we were allowed to write our own white man's burden poems. This is my version, speaking my feelings on what is happening to America today. I do not own the original version of the white man's burden.
The White Man’s Burden
Take up the White Man’s burden,
To Iraq where heathens roam.
Send forth our women and men,
Don’t bother to bring them home.
America is flying straight
We need no protection here
Our country is always right
Our duty must be revered.
Take up the White Man’s burden,
Attack Iraq without cause.
Since they must be re-sired
In our democratic laws.
They need our help more
Our knowledge, wealth, and prestige,
Our presence there has marked it,
That we will never leave.
Take up the White Man’s burden,
Cower behind your lies,
Since you don’t fight for God,
He shows truth through your eyes.
Take on your so called “burdens”
And go on their land and tread.
Don’t worry about your homeland,
America is already dead.
A/N: I think that there might be some confusion. Yes we are helping I admit, but we ar also causing harm. Afghanistan is about to become a failed state whether we are there or not, America was torturing Iraqui (sorry if I spelled that wrong) POW's until the media caught wind of it, and now our country is thinking of interfering with Russia becasue they invaded Georgia. WE ARE NOT THE WORLD'S BABYSITTER! WE HAVE OUR OWN PROBLEMS!
