I am nothing to everybody.
Just a face, to forget in seconds.
Like flour beneath stardust,
Or pewter amoungst gold.
Filtered from your memory.
I am everything to nobody,
Passed by without a second thought.
A dog inside a dreary cage.
A pocket without a penny,
Trapped inside a cardboard box.
I am something to somebody,
As I dream on cobbled streets.
How I dread to be wakened,
Realising that I am,
Just another forgotten tramp.
