An ascension scene

Sorry this is so last minute, but I just realized that I could ask around here.

Okay, so at my church, we're in the middle of a bible school called Marketplace 29 A.D. where everyone goes around pretending like they're in Jesus' time.

Now, grades 7-12 are the drama team. We put on plays for the little kids at the end of each night.

Tonight we're doing Jesus' ascension into heaven. And the only problem with that, is that we need to be able to get our Jesus (also known as George) into the air (or make him appear to be going upward).

Our only idea so far is to have Jesus up on a stool or something and then have everything (people, props, etc.) move down to make it seem as if he's getting higher...

I was wondering if any of you have any better (or other) ideas for this...
