Iambic pentameter...

I dunno, I've just been browsing through the poetry forms, and it seems very few people write structured poems nowadays. They rhyme here and there, don't rhyme other places, put line breaks wherever they feel like it, and ignore cadence entirely!

It just makes me sad, is all.

I like poems like villanelles, sonnets, limericks. A nice, strict rhyme scheme, a nice, strict meter...

*sigh*

Yeah, this is kind of a random thread, but I'm in the Randomness forum, so there. And I'm sure there's poetry in these forums that fits the style that I like, but, well, I can't find it.

Okay, I have to admit that I don't know much about poetry structure - but I love reading poetry. And free verse always attracts me much more than any sonnet does. Not saying I don't love things with iambic pantameter - for what I go to college for, I read a lot of it, and some of it I just adore. Free verse, or the like, is just more appealing for me because the unrestrictedness of it is appealing.

This is me - perhaps many others are like me.

If you want people to blame, there's a lot of people in the past you can go after. Strike down e.e. cummings (actually, please, don't!)

I like all kinds of poetry, but my favourite to write is the traditional, structured kind! I find it really difficult to write free verse and be happy with it.

Although I do hate sonnets. Not reading them, but writing them is impossible.
