Summer Reading Recommendations

The summer is now upon us (for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, anyway - you southerners can just call this the 'Winter Reading Recommendations' thread ), which means plenty of reading time, so I thought I'd start a thread where we can recommend our favourite books and writers, so as to give us some motivation/inspiration over what to read (for those that need it!).

Iliad OR Oddessy - I forgot who they were by. I think his name was Poe or something.
Eragon series - Christopher Paolini

OK, that last one was a complete lie. I'm only reading it so I have the right to insult it.

Also, there's always my absolute favorite book ever, Freak the Mighty, which I will probably reread again this summer. So good.

Redick's first novel The Red Wolf Conspiracy is an amazing piece of work for any fantasy lover.

Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman;
and the collected poems and prose of John Donne. ^^

I'm reading House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski. If you are getting tired of the same type of book over and over, you need to read this book. It will change the way you want to read books again. It's the most cleverly crafted book I've ever read--not to mention it's so deadly frightening you'll never put it down.

Please read it first. You know you need something fresh and different. This is it. I need to buy this.
