Ascension of the Watchers is the newest band I'm listening to right now. I'm absolutely stunned at the quality of their music; it's not just song after song; it's a musical sojourn.
TO help you understand, I should probably inform you on my musical habits. Former metal head, loved metal to the fullest. Really liked this band called Fear Factory, a band that combined heavy metal with an industrial sound. The lyricist and singer of the band is named Burton C. Bell, a guy I happen to admire as a writer because he does not write like a typical metalhead singer would. You won't hear about libertarian views and non-conformity; you'll hear about human nature itself.
And that's why I love AOTW so much; Burton Bell is the man who's fronting the band. I loved metal to the point where I was listening to it constantly. And then, after a while, I found that my anger was hitting extremely high levels. I was pissed off almost all the time. I hated everyone that surrounded me and wished God would just cut them all down. This band is different. AOTW is ambient/drone/alternative rock; they're not aggressive like Fear Factory was. They're calmer, and Bell is truly seeking God in his music; it's so obvious that it slaps you in the face. His lyrics are a point-blank confession, asking God to forgive him for the wrong he has done in his life.
My point simply being after this long rant? This band has taken my anger and thrown it out the window. I'm not an angry person listening to this band. They dig deep into the soul and make you really sit back and contemplate yourself as a human being, and who you are in this world.
my rating for this band: 9.2/10 stars. Go find their music and listen to it.
