no more need to respond. Thank you Qi.

Anyway...yeah, I'm not disciplined enough for martial arts.

Neither am I :P But everyone can do it, so im told

QiGuaiGongFu wrote:Aikido is no more self discaplined or mentaly discaplined than any other martial art, actually. Kendo would be better for that, but Kendo is horrible as a martial art. Its much to specific, and leans on other arts. Aside from that the form itself is dead to practiality. It's been obsolite since World War 1.

Stephen Segal is a really BAD actor. He's a great, fabulous martial artist, but his movies are cr*p. He has a warped philosiphy and it comes through in his movies.

what films is he in? why havent i heard of him...? :?

ah well... karate rules!

uhm... lots? go to www.imdb.com and type in his name.

Karate is ok... i guess.

You don't need to be discaplined to do martial arts, they'll discapline you. no worries.

LOL...that's true, Qi. I'm taking up Tae Kwon Do, and I really like it so far... gets my lazy bum moving. I love the kicks...it's fun. Smackin' those bags is awesome! I'm mostly learning it for self-defense...I'm stronger than I look, but I want to know how to defend myself if I get attacked.

tai kwon do is about as bad as it gets for self defense. it is absolutely HORRIBLE for self defense. there are so many better things, believe me.

ooo martial arts....yeah my martial arts are Tai Chi and Kickboxing. Yeah Tai Chi is similar but slower than Tai Kwan Do, it helps me get in shape for dance (I do irish dance...thats my sport), its alot of silkweaving and staying in positions for a long time, and mediatation, but it shapes your muscles, and technically can be sped up to be used as self-defense.

and Kickboxing(I consider it a martial art), funfunfun...my instructor is from Brazil and continually kicks my ass. ohivay...good work out though.

but I agree with Qi, about Wing Chun...I have a really good friend who practices it.

Kickboxing is on level the same level with martial arts, as kindergarden fingerpainting is to sophisticated artwork. Its a sport, and doesn't really qualify.

Tai Chi, is absolutely nothing like tai kwon do, not in the slightest is it even remotely similar. at all. ever. no.

Lets say you have to get into a bank safe. You have 60 pounds of C4 and the key. Tai Kwon Do uses C4, and not very efficiently at that. You end up blowing the entire building, killing everyone inside, and destroying the contents of the safe... but hey, your inside right? well, your outside now, but your in the same area.

Tai Chi, however, not only uses the key, but gets in quietly, effectively, and gets everything out of the safe before anyone in the bank could ever figure out that the door was even open.
REAL tai chi is brutal, and unstopable, but its hard to find anyone that teaches us Gua lo the real stuff. your not taking real tai chi, though i could show you the practical aplication of every movement you've been shown. more or less. Even though, slow tai chi shows much more finesse and forthought, and skill, raw talent than tai kwon do ever could. Van Gough was not a 2nd grader when he painted stary night.

c'est la vie...so much for actually knowing much. I know kickboxing isn't a martial art. I'd just like to this so.

I don't do Tai Kwan Do, but I was told it was something like it...aparently not.

wait...I just read my own post...I do believe I am an idiot...did I actually write that...please don't listen to my nonsense rambling ever again.

But I did just sign up for another Tai Chi class...it's an Intermediate class...maybe I'll actually learn something useful.
