This could liven up the poetry forum a bit too much, but I am interested in this challenge. Though my ability to write poetry takes a lot more time and work crafting a few lines, then it does for me to do an entire chapter or two of a novel. Good poetry is not something that should come easy, but excuse me if I think haikus and generic tasteless poems will replace the deeper ones, with maybe one or two good poems coming out from a person in a month

You can't really force yourself to write poetry, unlike you can force yourself to write a book.

You can at least write an awful first draft that can undergo major editing later on, Kenpachi. Poetry doesn't always have to be "deep." My favourite poems are nonsense rhymes. *shallow*

I guess we don't really need a NaPoWriMo thread past this one, everyone gets their own thread in the poetry forums where you post all your poems :) Better than spreading them out everywhere.

Good luck everyone!

Is there no word limit/count, then? No rules except 30 poems by the end of the month?

I'm totally up for it! But I think I'll post my poems in my blog for now and then just display the ones I like best in the literary forum.

I think I may do this as well.

Though my creativity is lame currently, so no making fun of my horrific poetry! :D

I'm not sure whether I'll post my efforts...I tend not to post pieces until they've been rejected, so if I don't, I'll just do titles and wordcounts in my thread, and hope you guys trust that I'm not making up my progress reports...

NaPoWriMo? Sounds like a good plan to me. Forces me to practise my poetry skills and that is defnetly something I need. I'm in! :)

...although I doubt I'll post them. Maybe in my blog.

All the best and happy poetry writing!

There's a subform under NaNoWriMo, if anyone is so inclined  You could start a thread for your poems there and then be sure they don't garner any critiques until you've spiffed them up a bit ^_^

Should we move the already created ones in dramatic poetry over to the subforum?

I think this sounds like a lot of fun as well.

I'm in =) When can we start? :D

You can't really force yourself to write poetry, unlike you can force yourself to write a book.

I disagree with that statement. You can't really force yourself to write a novel either, at least not well. While it might be easier to get the words out if you're writing a novel, than if you're writing poetry, writing a novel is a lot more than just typing what comes to mind. Much like each word in a poem is chosen specifically for the piece, each paragraph in a novel acts much in the same way.

There is a thought process to any type of writing, not just poetry.
