I just love my new job! I sell knives to people. And before you start to get the wrong idea, I'm not one of those guys who stands on the street and opens his coat saying, "Hey buddy, wanna buy some knives?"
What I do is I go to people's houses and do a 30-45 minute demo on how the knives work. I get to cut a piece of rope, leather, and a penny! And the best part of this job is I get paid just for booking an appointment. I've already got 4 appointments booked with people I know this weekend. Even on the off chance that I don't sell a single thing, I'll still earn $60.20 just for showing up at their houses. Another great thing about this job is there's no company standard to how much I have to sell in a week. I can book one appointment every week if I wanted to and still stay on the payroll!
I haven't even finished training yet but already I can see that this job is going to be a lot better than pouring coffee at Tim Hortons for six hours straight every night.
Oh, I didn't even tell you what the company was. It's called CUTCO, which is the sister division of the VECTOR company. The head company is called ALCAS and is based in Olean New York. The company itself has been in business for over 55 years so you know the knives are good.
I'm also in something called the Fast Start contest. Basically I have my first ten days to sell as much as I can and get prizes for how much I make in sales. About half of the stuff I can win I can do so by selling something in my first appointment. If I get $10000 in sales (which after doing the math would be very easy to do in ten days) I get a free dinner at a fancy resturant and I get driven there from my house by a limo! I also get a $1000 shopping spree for ANY store of my choice! Xbox 360, here I come!
The funny thing is, my parents are pretty skeptical about this new job, especially my mom. So, to give myself a little more insentive to break that $10000 mark I made a bet with her. If I don`t make $1000 by next Monday, I have to buy my whole family dinner. But if I DO make that much my mom has to buy me a new video game. She thinks I can`t do it. If she knew everything I know about this company and how we do business she would have never agreed to that bet. I think I`m going to make $1000 in just my first 7 days, and if not I have all of Easter weekend to work.
Pretty cool for someone who just sells knives, hu?
