I pulled back the silk blankets, and climbed into the bed. I placed the blankets over my legs. Wearing a thin sleeping gown, I closed my eyes.
I had not seen Jessie for three days so I had lain alone. I had begun to wonder whether I would ever see him again.
It is kind of ironic that I was thinking this when the bedroom door opened roughly.
Scared out of my wits, my eyes flew open, and I sat up with a start.
Standing in the doorway looking angry enough to murder someone was my husband. “Susannah, I--”
“Oh, my God, Jessie, I was afraid I would never see you again,” I exclaimed, running up to him.
“We have t--”
I stood on tiptoe, and kissed his lips. My husband was stunned at first, but hastily recovered and returned my kiss; wrapping his arms around me.
Jessie began backing me up towards the bed that I had been in only seconds before. Within seconds we fell onto the covers. He began unbuttoning my bodice with quick fingers.
“I love you, Jessie Lafayette,” I exclaimed, causing him to freeze.
“You do?”
“Yes, are you going to just sit there staring at me like I am dense or what?”
* * *
I rolled over onto my stomach, and looked at my husband. Wearing nothing but one of the silk blankets, I lay with a ray of sunshine shining on me through the window.
Jessie slept on his back with one hand resting on his chest; he was smiling. Unexpectedly, Jessie began to awaken. “Morning darling.”
“Hello.” Paused. “Can I ask you something?”
“Yes.”
He reached up and stroked my right cheek.
“Is love all you want from me?”
He moved his hand to the back of my head, and pulled my face down to his.
Our lips were now touching; my hair was falling over his face. We kissed for only a second. Then, I raised my head back up and looked into his serious green eyes as he said, “Susannah, love is only the beginning.”

UM...I really liked this. Not your best piece, but it was good all the same. Short but sweet as my mother would say...:) I can't wait for things to heat up again in your next post since you had Jessie mad in the beginning. My favorite part (although it was very short) was:

“Is love all you want from me?”
He moved his hand to the back of my head, and pulled my face down to his.
Our lips were now touching; my hair was falling over his face. We kissed for only a second. Then, I raised my head back up and looked into his serious green eyes as he said, “Susannah, love is only the beginning.”

Great Job on that! I like how you tied in the title into the chapter. Keep writing and I'll be sure to comment! :)

i still like it. you can tell a bit by the writing that you seem a little bored with it. i think it has more potential though. how about suzana going to confront her parents about not telling her the truth? or having her remember more things about her real parents, like a flash back of sorts. i think both of those could work. or you could have some drama with her sister since she isn't mentioned much kind of like a part 2.

some suggestions since you wanted some. \:D/

That is a good idea. Thanx lotz. I was thanking about maybe a prequel or something...or better yet...maybe Jessie's family got her mixed up with someone. That would be soooooo cool! I know I sound silly but it works. LOL

I read through this chapter and its great! A little confusing at times and I do wish that at certain moments you would take more time to describe the scene, a room, the yard, or just an essence or a feeling. But very good.
"You're special." "Like, 'Stop eating the paste' special?"
"For a dreamer night's the only time of day."
"No Day But Today"
"Run mad as often as you choose, but do not faint."
