Hello. I joined a matter of seconds ago and I thought I'd better introduce myself. I've been interested in writing since I was about 5 and have wanted to be an author since then (well a wanted to be a vet when I was 6 but I didn't like the idea by the time I was 8 so i won't count that) I've only ever written for myself and occasionally shown what I've written to my class or parents, so I'm pretty new to the whole 'write and review' concept. I'm sure your all very nice people and I'd love to be able to say I managed to post something here

Hello and welcome to YWS.

Writing and reviewing is teh awesome. Not only do you get feedback on your writings - which, apart from being nice, is also extremely helpful - but you get a chance to critically examine other writers, which helps both them and you.

The fact that this site is a writing site for young writers is also, in my opinion, awesome. Young writers improve at a phenominal rate - faster than many adult writers, who may have already hit their peak - and it's great watching the other members here improve over time. Furthermore, as our members grow up, they may even start seriously trying to get published, and YWS has a number of potential 'up and coming' writers who hope to enter the market.

Who knows - you may even end up giving advice to the thirteen year who will end up becoming the next J.K. Rowling

Aside from the forums YWS has a number of other cool features you may wanna check out:

- Every member has his or her own blog, for posting ... well, anything,

- There is an official YWS Blog, which gives interesting posts on varous topics (most writing related),

- There is an official online YWS radio show,

- There is a chat room to hang out in, chat in, and get to know other members,

- YWS is releasing a Literary Journal (that will be available from Amazon) that contains stories and poems of some of our members. Perhaps, next year, you'll try submitting something for the second Journal?

- The YWS knowledge base contains a number of articles written by our members intended to help you improve your writing.

Thank you both for the lovely welcome and information. I do not know what buddy's are Wiggy (although i have a vague idea) but I'd love you to be mine if you get approved . My confidence has been lifted some what and I may build up the confidence to post a poem I've been working on. Thank you again and I hope you both had a nice Christmas.

Heya! YWS is a great place to find encouragement. Sureal covered all the awesome parts of YWS, but I'd also like to add that members on this site are some of the best I've ever encountered on the web. We seem to attract a certain person, and they tend to be intelligent, helpful, crazy individuals that drive this site forward. Anyway, happy holidays, and hope to see your work up soon!
