NanoWriMo '07-First Sentences

First sentences are always really important and even if you're planning to change the way you open your story post your first sentences in bold

For inspiration, I opened Maximum Ride by James Patterson and fell in love with the first sentence:

The funny thing about imminent death is that it really snaps everything into perspective.

Now, as for MY first sentence:

"I stepped out of the car, the gravel crunching beneath my feet, and followed mother into the familiar house."

Not as exciting but...what about you guys?

The bodies lay frozen across the marble floor. A silvery glow hung in the air, which mingled with the overpowering stench of death.

Everyones sentences are so good!


The men lined up in front of the pit.


I think men is too strong of a word.... #_# I need to pull my backspace key off. XD

I 've only written 411 words today and I'm soooo tired of this story already. Hopefully I might get to the target.

wow, everyone's first sentences are soo good

Her eyes were the same colour as overwhelming; the kind of thoughtful sharpness that sees everything.

It was exactly twenty four minutes past eleven at night.

Nothing special really...^^;

It was dark as Connie was passing the river.

:shrug: not too exciting.

I'll say as soon as I know... I'm writing random scenes from the middle because it's haaard to start a murder novel...

Darkness ruled her.

I have the urge to post my first 'chapter'/part/scene up here for edits....x.x
