Identifying a Cliche

I was doing a bit of research for a friend of mine concerning fantasy writing. We had noticed that there were way too may Cliches in fantasy and that with most Fantasy you could guess what was going to happen (which ruined all the fun).

Chance to see of your writing contains cliches you might want to get rid of.

Remember, though, just using a cliché does not make the story bad. It's what you do with that cliché that matters.

Like I always say: En garde! Cliche!

One I find particularly annoying is the "keys to the kingdom" approach, where the band of heroes has to find pieces of an artifact, or sometimes another's memory.
