Imagine Piano Driven...Key of G.
Structure wise, my intentions were for it to seem a little disoriented, not very consistent I suppose. I am possibly recording this this afternoon. If I do, I will post the mp3.
[verse one]
I met a boy named Macedonia on a subway train
to Manhattan where I was supposed to play a show that night
But somehow we started talking and it went on for hours
We rode around in circles, people on and off, they never looked way
We never talked about our lives or the places we were from
Just the ocean and the theories of why they never end
Like our conversation
Stretching to the morning
When we would say we had to go
And I knew I would never see him again
[chorus one]
I meet people in Nowhere Land
they look my way, they walk away
I know love in Nowhere Land
it knows my name, it takes my place
and then I’m left alone again
[verse two]
I met a boy named Macedonia on a small airplane
Down to the south where I had a holiday lay over
He cried the whole way down but he couldn't tell me what was wrong
But as soon as I turned away I knew I heard him sing a song
It was not about what he lost or a girl he wished he never met
Just the skylines and the theories of why they're darker on the other end
Like our conversation
On that three hour flight
Where we said nothing at all
And I knew I would never see him again
[verse three]
I met a boy named Macedonia in Northern California
Standing on a moon lit bridge wondering if he could swim his
life away into the ocean so his body would be buried
side by side to sunken ships and submarines that meant nothing
To him these thoughts weren't suicide, just a cheap chance to realize
He was deeper than the ocean floor but no one ever looks that far down
Like our conversation
We couldn't find the door
We couldn't find the end
And I knew I would never see him again
[bridge]
I came across a town with no name and I don't know
What state or country or what the people there were asking me
I said all I know is I keep meeting a boy named Macedonia
In subway trains and small airplanes and Northern California
And they stopped me there
Asked, “Why do you care?
Because when you awake
You will never see him again because…”
[chorus two]
You'll meet people in Nowhere Land
they won't seem real, but they won't be still
You'll know love in Nowhere Land
You'll know its name, but you have your place
But it’s just a dream and that's where it ends
