First, grammar corrections and the boring technicalities:

[s]Strikethrough[/s] = Omit

The human knight ran faster, dodging low branches, jumping loose tree trunks, brushing cobwebs aside. His black armor was tiring him out, the metal digging into his skin; but he took the pain, knowing it was only a simple scratch compared to what the Elves could do to him when they caught him.

Sir Steel of Galtrod quickened his pace. He couldn’t hear the Elves, for they were naturally this stealthy. They could be anywhere; they could be right next to him for all he knew. He only concentrated on running fast; on running far away from the Elfin city of Sahlkran.

He rolled down for such a long time before he came to a halt at the bottom, lying on his stomach, his armor covered with dirt and leaves and mud, his arm stinging painfully. He lay there silently, not moving, and hoping to appear dead to the attacking Elves.

There was a longer silence as they waited for their fellow Elf to arrive by their sides. Steel couldn’t hear his arrival except for his voice. He remained unmoving, listening intently. Would he be caught and taken to the Elfin King? If that happened, even greater tension would build between the Elves and the Humans, let alone the Elves and the Dark Knights. Steel would be accused of spying for the enemy, and that would do no good for the Dark Knights.

“Why are you so afraid?” Steel asked, throwing his hands out, and his hand knocked against his sword’s hilt in the process. Steel flushed slightly and put his hands to his belt. He looked at the Elf whose eyes also went to the beltto where his hands were. She was afraid he would attack her.

“I have never seen a human before,” she said, stepping out from the shadows to get a better look at Steel. She was even more beautiful in the sun’s light, her blue eyes glittering up into his dark [s]eyes[/s] ones, examining every strand of his long black hair, every wrinkle in his face, and especially the point of his ears which turned out to not be so pointy.

The Elf shifted slightly, her shining blue eyes looking away from Steel’s handsome smile and dark eyes to his feet, which stopped right in front of her. She could feel Steel’s hot breath upon her head and an odd sensation filled her insides. She hesitated, not knowing what to do about this new feeling.

As for the actual review...

I like where you could go with this, but I think things happened wayy too fast. In truth, I find nothing romantic or really enjoyable about people getting physical so fast when they don't even know each other... I think it'd be better if he was simply entranced by her, but that they got to know each other a little better before anything actually happens... My opinion on the matter, anyway.

Also, I think you need more background... but you're off a to a good start =)

If I could only see right to the end, I'd know just where to begin, and I could put together all the little pieces.

Awesome story Jabber. I really liked it a ton. Twas an ultimate piece of writing. Which is to good not to bring up so I must do it. Yeah I am going on so that counts as a full review. Yep I am that evil to do that. I abuse the post and bring up art. hehe. Almost to a full review I think. Getting closer. Closer. Closer/ And I think I am safe now.

Awesome story again.

I liked this a lot, actually. Only problem I had with it - well, there's two actually - was, one, it was too melodramatic in some parts, and two, the dialogue and descriptions at times was too modern. You're shooting for a medieval story, it seems, and I'd like to see your writing smooth out. Add a mysterious tint to it, you know?

Oh, and I've thought of something else. I felt like the whole romance between the princess and the knight was too... fast. They meet, they talk, and then they're hot for each other. And wouldn't the knight realize who she was, since he heard the other elves talking about her and how she'd gone missing? I drew that conclusion right away, and I would hope the knight is as smart - or smarter - than me.

And that's all I've got. You could use more description, and the dialogue needs some touching up, but I did like it. I read through the whole thing, which is more than I can say for a majority of what I've seen on YWS.

Keep writing.

KJ

Scipio: Do you know what happens here after dark? Things little eyes should never, ever see.
Bo: We're not scared.
Scipio: Not scared? Well, aren't you the little tiger? RAWR!

I really enjoyed reading this. It was magnificent. The details were wonderful, it made me feel as though it was me that was being touched by Steel. I mean, that might be going overboard, but it was that descriptive. I liked how Jade was innocent and confused. The way you captured that was perfect.
I would say that there were a mistake I noticed, but it didn't ruin my reading. It was only when Steel was buckling his sword around his waist. you said waste instead of waist. That's the only thing I found. As for the main character, I never criticize character names. It's up to the reader on what the character names would be. As for Jade being blond, I didn't really mind it, sense she was described as sweet and innocent, and that usually goes along with blue eyes and blond hair. Although, as others said, it was stereotypical. For me, though, it did nothing to ruin the story, and I didn't mind it one bit.

Overall, I loved this piece, and it was worth posting. I liked the romance, and the conflict. The ending quote was good too; I liked how you cut off at Steel being with his troop again. :D
The road is full of many bumps and mounds; it's up to the strength of our heart and soul to be able to overcome them.

More more more! Haha, I really liked this, it was humorous and suspensful. The others got everything I think. Keep working on this too, it really is a great read, and I'm glad you at least will work on it. Till then, keep writing!
Best of wishes,

I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen. I'm telling you, amazing things will happen. - Conan O'Brien
