Madeleine L'Engle Dies at 88

HARTFORD, Connecticut (AP) -- Author Madeleine L'Engle, whose novel "A Wrinkle in Time" has been enjoyed by generations of schoolchildren and adults since the 1960s, has died, her publicist said Friday. She was 88.

L'Engle died Thursday at a nursing home in Litchfield of natural causes, according to Jennifer Doerr, publicity manager for publisher Farrar, Straus and Giroux.

The Newbery Medal winner wrote more than 60 books, including fantasies, poetry and memoirs, often highlighting spiritual themes and her Christian faith.

Oh no... I really love all of her books that I've read. I'm gonna miss her...

*cries*

But but but....she was brilliant!

"In my dreams, I never have an age," she said. "I never write for any age group in mind. ... When you underestimate your audience, you're cutting yourself off from your best work."

I mean come on, she cant be gone!

I suppose we'll have to go along without her. Doesn't seem right that the world goes on without her, but let us always remember the wonderful contributions she made to the world of writing.

It made me cry when I heard it on the radio. I absolutely loved the Time Quartet. She'll be remembered forever, though.

She was such a good writer, I was just thinking about her books the other day.

Damn it, I hate when the world looses a source of inspiration and literary vitality. Her books were some of the most page-turning I read during my middle and high school days.

Everyone dies...
But what a shame.

*WAIL*
She was one of my favorite authors...She WAS my favorite author for a very long time. I sent her some of my poetry and she wrote back a few years ago. Granted, it was one of those printed copies that every author sends to fans, but still.
That is so sad.
Now I'll have to go reread all her books in honor of her memory.

A Wrinkle in Time is one of my favorite books of all time. I haven't read the rest of the series, but I plan to.

Well, she was a brilliant writer and lived a good, full life. We'll miss her, but I'm sure she's "in a better place".

How sad. Thursday was the day that I started reading A Wrinkle In Time, after it caught my eye in a bookstore.
