Hi everyone! I'm new here. (Obviously)
My real name is Matthew, for anyone that cares to know my real name. You can call me Matt, if you want.

My favorite genre is Horror/Thriller, however I love when it is mixed with fantasy. My idol is M. Night Shyamalan. He is the greatest film maker ever. I wish to be a Writer/Director in the future and he is a great influence. I'm a Christian, which also has a lot of influence on my work.

I also love the movie Pan's Labyrinth, which has become an influence to me as well. I hope that everyone here can help improve my writing skills.
I also love music. A lot. Some of my favorite artists are:

-My Chemical Romance
-AFI
-Linkin Park
-Queens of the Stone Age
-The Killers
-30 Seconds to Mars
-Angels and Airwaves
-Good Charlotte
-Flyleaf
-Red
-Chevelle

The list can go on and on. But I won't bore you with long lists.

Thanks! I've heard of Underoath. They are pretty good. However sometimes it's a little too much screaming for me.

Hello, and welcome! Oh, and thanks! It's nice to see another MCR fan round here, and I too like The Killers, too. Funnily enough, I'm in the midst of writing a horror/thriller/fantasy, so I look forward to reading some of your work.

Anyways, we're a good crowd here, so you'll enjoy yourself!

Feel free to PM me if you want any help/have any questions, etc.

There's always been a lot of tension between Lois and me, and it's not so much that I want to kill her, it's just, I want her to not be alive anymore.

Hello, Yet Another Darkened Mind.

Welcome to the site. I'm a Christian, but I think that's about all we have in common, yes? I love music, but not the same kind as you and dear old Poltergiest...hard rock is not for me.

Join 'Band Geeks Anonymous' and 'Christian Writers.' !!! They have fun there, and everywhere. It's a great site, so welcome.

Cheers!

P.S. You can call me by the following: 'The Kool One,' 'Kool,' 'Koolio,' or 'Ich Kuhl vund.'

Flyleaf is rad, but I haven't listened to them in forever. They need a new album...

Anyhow! Welcome to the site, if you have any questions or need some help with something feel free to PM me or anyone else in green and they'll help you out ^_^

Horror is fun! I don't read a whole lot of it, but writing is great. We just got a user group on horror, you might like that.

LOL! Echoing everybody, welcome-to-the-YWS-and-PM-me-if-you-have-any-questions!

Ha! XD

I rather like Linkin Park, some 30 Seconds to Mars and Good Charlotte stuff. Though I prefer classical and instrumental music, so I'm not a die-hard fan. XD

Anyway, I'm Her Inkyness/ Inkie, also a Christian, though more Orthodox like Koolio up there^

I've never understood the "Thriller" category of fiction. :? It's just another word for "adventure", isn't it?

Hey ADM welcome to YWS. I'm fan of horror my favourite author is Christopher Pike and I know you'll fit in. I'm not much a fan of Mainstream I listen to alot of punk/ska/rock/mental/hardrock. I'm writing a fantasy right now with horror aspects and M Night is a decent director though my two favourites are, Hayoe Mystaki and Steven Speilberg mainly since Jurrastic Park one of my fav movies. Well anyway have fun and I hope you like it here just as I do.

According to Wikipedia, "Thrillers are characterized by fast pacing, frequent action, and resourceful heroes who must thwart the plans of more-powerful and better-equipped villains. Literary devices such as suspense, red herrings, and cliffhangers are used extensively."

Of course, the "resourceful heroes/better-equipped villains" will be the cliche element, but that's the jist. Personally, I've always thought of thrillers as a mixture of mystery and horror.
