Sandy laughed and grabbed his wrist, pulling him over to the others.

"Everyone, this is..." She looked at him and he sighed.

"Eric."

"Eric, this is everyone. Jax, Corun, and Kali." They waved.

"Great. Can I go now?"

"No way! You don't know everyone yet."

"Yeah I do, you just introduced us."

"No, I told you their names. You don't know them." She smiled and sat down.

"So Eric, what are you doing out here?" Kali asked curiously.

"Hunting." he replied shortly.

"Hunting...?"

He gave an exasperated sigh. "None of your business! Can I go!?"

Kali ignored him and turned to Sandy. "Do you know what he's hunting?"

"Nope, not a clue."

"Either of you?" Kali asked Jax and Corun. They shook their heads.

"What is there to hunt out here in the park? Fireflies?" Kali inquired.

"Squirrels or rabbits. Anything I can find that has meat on it."

"But, why would you have to hunt?"

"Because I don't have any money to buy food."

"Why don't you have money? Were you fired from your job? What do you do for a living?"

"I said it's none of your business." Eric got up and began to walk away. "I'm leaving."

Sandy stood up. "Ok either you really like that line or it's all you can say." He growled and turned away. Sandy grabbed his wrist again and he turned back to face her.

"What?"

"I would've let you go but now you've got my attention. I'm not trying to be pushy but..."

"Well you are."

"Come on. Tell me. Please?"

(Gee, I haven't really thought this far yet. Oh well, guess I'll have to wing it.)

"Fine. I'm part of a restoration group who's trying to restore the planet. It's very low pay, but something needs to be done to insure a safe and prosperous future for our children." He glared. "Happy now?"

Nica hung upside down off a nearby tree and smiled slightly.
"Bad luck Eric!" he wispered. His voice was strange. You could only listen to him properly if you weren't trying to hear it. Otherwise you only heard a high-pitched static sound.

"So," he thought, "Eric and Coran? Never going to get on well."

He smiled a little again and his two pointed teeth glinted in the bright sunlight.

He swung around on the branch so that he was sat upright and pushed his aviators up with his little finger.

Angel sat on a tall rooftop very far away. He was watching the entire scene with his peircing blue eyes. It didn't matter, he was getting paid well. Angel stood and brushed some snow off of his black jacket he was wearing.

When he stood he spread his wings out fully and beatifully. He made the call of a night owl and a large group of men dashed out of the shadows. Most of them were half dog or wolf and went striaght for the group of children.

They were soon surrounded by five gang member and Angel jumped off the building, now gliding slowly over to them. He smiled and siad, "Easy prey."

"We have company." Eric warned as a group of armed men surrounded them. He motioned the others behind him and acted like a shield for the children. He might not be very open with these children, but he wasn't going to stand by and let them get hurt. If the opportunity arose he would act as a distraction while the others got away.

A Falcon person dropped from above and landed in front of the group. Eric noticed who he was. They had met a long time ago. "Angel..."

"Silvertooth. Long time no see."

"What do you want with these children?"

"Just a job. And you should know more about that than anyone, wouldn't you Silvertooth?" Angel snapped his finger and the men inched foreward. "So sorry it had to end this way. Survival of the fitest." Agel drew two thin daggers from within his jacket and lunged foreward while the rest of the gang lunged for the children. Angel used his wings to move faster and laughed maliciously as he came closer to Erik.

(It's spelled Eric, by the way. Also, I hope I'm not portraying SishBee's character incorrectly.)

Short claws shot out of Eric's fingertips as he readied himself. With quick reflexes he grabbed Angel by both wrists and threw him into one of the other men.

He grabbed a large nearby rock and flung it at two other men, knocking them both unconscious. He looked at the children and said, "I'll buy you some time. Get out of here while you can."

Sandy protested, "You can't expect to fight them all and win!"

"I never said I would win, now go."

"But-"

Eric grabbed her arm and shoved her toward the opening he had made. "Take your friends and get out of here, NOW!"

After a moment's hesitation she nodded and ran off. Her friends followed closely behind.

Nica, on the other hand, stayed. "You can't expect me to run, Eric."

Eric smiled. "You never were one to run from a fight, Nica."

Angel furiously got to his feet and looked around. Two of his men were knocked out and had peices of rubble around them. "You shouldn't have done that, Silvertooth. You three, after the children, I can easily handle these two."

The remianing members took off after the ones that had gotten away and Angel refocused on Eric. He had his claws out. "Now its on." Whispered Angel. Each of his figner extended into long thin talons and he extended his white wings.

"If you stand down now, I'll let you go freely." Eric snorted and Angel ran foreward, dropping the daggers. When he was just infront of Eric he beat his wings down hard and saored above his, narrowly missing his swiping claws. He landed behind his and kciked his, sending him flying to the ground.

He then focused on the girl that had stayed. He ran forewad very quickly, his piercing talons flying viciuosly.

Just before Angel attacked, Eric jumped and grabbed his leg, forcing him to the ground with his weight. Angel flailed about, trying to make Eric let go.

"Nica!" Eric yelled. "Go help the children! I can handle it from here!"

The bat man nodded and ran off to find the children before the other men did.

(Sorry about Nica, and btw, you can't go back in time and change what already happened. You can't have him win all the time. )

Angel stood and brushed snow off of his now reddening face. "Now its just you and me, Silvertooth. Why do you associate yourself with these kind. I doubt they have experianced half of what you and I have."

The two faced each other across the snowy park. Angel extended his wings to thier full extent and ran foreward. Eric ran at him on all fours and jumped at him, swiping madly.

Angel doged all the blows and slashed, barely getting him in the stomach. "You know we're both better than this. We could rebuild organazation. You could leave behind this pathetic life of restoring the planet. There's nothing you can do."

"Go get the children, like hell I will!" Nica wheeled and flew back towards the fight. Although he was normally a shy, insecure person during the day, it was sunset now and his true character shone through the fading light.

His flight was silent, but Eric and Angel were making such a noise that they wouldn't have heard him coming anyway.

He flew up right behind Angel just as he was poised to strike Eric and bit him in the neck. The bite made the bird-boy pause. The poison made him fall unconcious seconds later.

"Eric? You alright?"

"I think so."

"Great, now I had best be going. Feather-features is not going to be happy when he wakes up."

He flew off quickly and silently in the direction of his favourite bug hunting ground.

Eric was left to get away from Angel as he liked but first, Eric smiled, a little revenge for the scratch!

Sandy and the others stopped running and looked around, breathing hard. Sandy looked around for Eric.

"Where are they?" Jax put her hand on Sandy's shoulder.

"You knew there was a chance they wouldn't come back..."

"Don't say that! They--" Just then three of the five men from before ran out and circled them.

"Don't worry. It's four to three. We have them out numbered." Kali said.

"Yeah...but they have weapons, and we don't!" Sandy shouted.
