The age of television. OK Computer We've got the technology
Who cares? Nevermind!
Nowadays we need a thriller
Fed up with heaven we need a nirvana;
A divine comedy

Obsessed with the formulaic variables of X&Y Add N to X
Everything's hazy, a blur
Everything's Madness, as people clash in the streets
Blame everything on a rush of blood to the head.
Forget a white riot or a white wedding.
We're back in black
On the highway to hell; a black sabbath.

All the American Idiots and the insane British;
Crazy Canadians, war heroes on a middle eastern holiday
Anarchy in the UK, Offspring of the forgotten
Side by side- Brothers in arms
The killers of us, the teenagers
Sound the alarm, the klaxons ring out.
Form a seven nation army of raconteurs, singers;
Swindlers and charlatans

In times like these we must search for an oasis.
No doubt, we must establish a new order
Over the kings of today, the princes of medieval,
the queens of the stone age, leaders of the empire.
Find some clarity
This is the final straw
Let's go team- there's nothing left to lose!
We're talking 'bout a revolution, my generation!

Hehe! A clever poem :o . I liked how the song/arists were incorperated into the poem (this was done very well). Some bits I didn't understand, but I'm sure thats just my luck of 'poetry understandingness'.

I think that all the pop culture stuff in bold is really distracting; all the names demand we pay attention to them and make meaning out of them, rather than the context they're put in. If this is the case, why not make something entirely out of band and song names? [this would be like found poetry, only it would be much more difficult to make it mean anything] If this is supposed to function as a poem in its own right, rather than a list of names and a comment on their purpose, the bold should go. Readers have the title as a clue and if they know their rock music can have fun deciphering the poem for themselves.

Some of the ideas felt forced to get more names in there; they showed up on the page and BAM - they were gone, moving on to the next thing, not a lot of room for elaboration. Like in the last stanza, you've got "queens of the stone age" and besides a band name, that's a weird and good image. But it gets no expansion; the list moves on and the poem mentions something else.

The second stanza is not that bad about this, because it uses related names to build up images; but everything else seems like more of a jumble. If you're going to go back to this poem, pick the names and ideas that you like the most and really want to start with and then build the images from there.

It's clever, indeed! Nice idea, and you did it pretty well.

Although I liked the poem, I do agree partially with something euclidean. In some places I didn't understand the poem, mostly because it was un-understandable (is that a word?) at all. I feel most of the poem was forced, but I think working on the poem a bit more (as in, revising it, changing it) would really help. I do adore the idea, though...
Good luck =)

Ok, I THINK I got this poem...

I liked the stuff in bold, shows that the names mean something.

I agree with Euclidean. Allusions aren't used to say, "Hey! Look at me! I know what's going on!" They should be subtler. Give the reader some credit and make us work a bit, yeah? You've already told us that it has to do with MTV and pop culture. Don't insult us by assuming that we won't catch any of the allusions.

As it is, the bolding is incredibly distracting--I leave this poem with a recoiling feeling, affronted and dismissive, instead of thinking about the meaning.

Try a little subtlety.

I love pop culture poetry. (I may have made that term up, but whatever.) I enjoy writing it, myself.

If you really want to emphasize the band names and song titles, I'd recommend putting them in italics; that way we see them, but they aren't distracting like they are in bold.

Other than that, I liked this a lot. There were a few places I thought you could use line breaks, but that's just a matter of personal taste. I love the idea, and the variety of ways it could be interpreted.

Wow I thought that was amazing. It was a brilliantly clever unique idea that you've excequted incredibly well.
I am not sure about the bold. Whilst it was a good idea at the same time I think it would have been a lot more interesting to leave people to decipher it themselves. I love songs/poetry with refrences to pop culture in them and I like thinking "Oh hang on a minute that's from that." Rather than having it shoved in my face. I think you should just go with how you feel about that bit though.
That's all I can really say bad about it. You strung it together so well.

Well done

I like it! That was a very clever way of putting the bands together.

Haha, this is clever. But I think like a lot of people have said, you shouldnt have put the artists/songs/albums in bold. it's distracting. Also, I didn't get the poem in itself. Hehe... what were you talkin about again? I think you may have been overexaggurating (I know I probably spelled that wrong) with this poem- mtv doesn't make people riot in the streets. I kinda like it... I mean only the videos, but... whatever, I'm getting off track. Uhm... so yeah, smart thinking, but... Im still confused.
I think you're crazy, maybe.

It's clever that you worked in all the references to songs and bands, but as poetry, it's not really striking me as anything fantastic. It seems like you were working too hard on getting all those names in and not hard enough on the poem itself. It works as, "Hey, that's a novel and entertaining little thing," but not so much as poetry. As everyone else has said, it's jumpy and fails to make a lot of sense.

I liked this a lot! I think the idea is amazing and the way you did it was fantastic. I agree that the song titles and artists names shouldn't be in bold but apart from that i think it was brilliant! Everything seemed to flow really well and it was understandable.

It was good but once it isn't in bold it should be better to read.

I was laughing because it was so true...
I didn't know how sadistic music has gotten (O_O)

But wow, this poem was amazing and I couldn't stop laughing. Words make me laugh, it wasn't exactly the poem. But you did bring up a point.

Tee hee... Great job!
