I like it much better. ^_^

You've got an intriguing way to describe it and it's different. I think it's improved greatly.

Best of luck.

Wow. This was amazing Jiggity. You have a really strong skill in creating atmosphere; this whole piece felt really dark and eerie. Your characterisation in the first was really good and I certainly wasn't expecting the eccentric old guy to kill Tim. I thought he was about to let him in on some huge secret on how to travel to other worlds. I like that you didn't spend too long describing the maps and having the town map and the map of Lyceum next to each other was a good way to express that the man had all kinds of maps.

The description of the painting in the second was brilliant, very visual. I love the use of blood in this piece and the dialogue was short and effective. I did presume that the man at the end was the same as the one in the previous story though. I think it was the mention of the map that gave me that idea. Perhaps describe this man as being in his middle years so that the reader knows for certain that he's a different character.

The third was great. I have to admit that I was expecting a death but not Nick's. You described his personality and appearance well and I did get quite attatched to him to say it was such a short piece of writing so well done there. I think you could have given more information on Paul's physical appearance that would have made the link between him and the old man easier to pick up on. Maybe you could mention that he has blue eyes or something?

Anyway, these are really good and I have high expectations for number four...

Hello, Jiggity. :)

1.

The boy jumped, a small scream escaping his throat.

This feels rather melodramatic compared with what’s happened so far. It’s mainly the word ‘scream’ that feels rather OTT. Perhaps you could find a better word to use? Something more like ‘yelp’, for example?

"Why did you lock the door?"

I love this line. It works so well, stood on its own like that.

It lasts the longest, as you can see, but alas, its usage has long since faded in this realm of men... till now.

The ‘till’ feels out of place in Phyllis’ speech, probably because it’s rather informal. ‘until’, I think, suits this line better.

He got the man's meaning well enough. "People aren't maps!"

This threw me off, because I didn’t pick up on his meaning at all.

I’ve also read through 2 and 3. Didn’t find anything to comment on in part 2, and I think I found a minor thing or two in part 3, but that was hours ago (I’ve been distracted since), and can’t remember what it was.

At any rate, I really love your writing style. I had originally intended to only read part 1, but I got hooked really fast, and so read the other parts as well.

As you’ve handed this in now… what are the results? ;) I’m curious.
I wrote the above just for you.

I got a Distinction for it actually, haha, it was my highest result and from one of the toughest markers ever. *dances*

Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you liked it.
