I'm not emo
I'm just always misunderstood.

I'm not as happy as they think
Cheerful and chirpy as a kid.

They don't know
What I conceal;
The pain and the anger.

I don't want anyone to get hurt
Because I know that my temper
Is uncontrollable when all fury is unleashed.

And I don't want to be ignored
As the person who I am.

And I don't want to be the object,
Of their insults and rumours.

I just wish that they'd treat me fair
Like the others around.
Why won't they stop hurting me?

They say I insult them
It's not true.
I never do, it only occurs
when my heart can't take it anymore
Or if they do it on a bad day.

My smile is my mask.
And my life is just an act.

When will they see
That I have feelings of my own, too?
uhhh...wait, WHAT?!

Hi! Remember me? I met you in the chat room! Anyway good poem it didn't really call out to me and I really don't know what it's like to be emo so I don't really get somethings. I am blonde and a social butterfly so...um I guess good job! hehe :D

i love this.
you convey your idea simply, without all of that detail pish posh i seem to get wrapped up in.
and i love the idea you are conveying on its own.
i have a friend that used to be a cutter, and people really ridiculed her. like she had scars on her arms because she wanted attention and not because she was sad and angry and didn't have any way of dealing with it.
i always yell at people that say the word emo with jest.
or, even if people aren't cutters, if they wear black or they're just generally depressed, people are like "dude, she's emoooo"
it's not cool.
keep writing!

OMG!!!

I don't have time to read it atm (I'll probly get around to it later) but I just love your opening line :D
The good parts of a book may be only something a writer is lucky enough to overhear or it may be the wreck of his whole damn life — and one is as good as the other.
Ernest Hemingway

It was good, and me too, I'm not emo. I hope never to be one either. But, your poem was good. Keep up the good work!

Ok, now I've actually read this.

This entire poem contradicts itself.

Even the first two lines do:
"I'm not emo
I'm just always misunderstood. "

Well, good luck with your denial, I suppose

I only have two words to say: Navel gazing.

If you don't know what I'm talking about do a YWS search for those words, Snoink has a thread somewhere...
“It's necessary to have wished for death in order to know how good it is to live.”

So, you're not an emo, but you describe yourself as... an emo.

This seemed like one long rant to me; I don't see where the end was developed any more than the beginning. If anything, I'd put the first two lines at the end.
