Hey people

HI! Well I just make my account, and my username was going to be Carmeeno, which is my friend's nickname for me. But I completly spaced and left out the r. Oh well!

My first name is Carmen, and I have been homeschooled since When I was a kid I always said I wanted to be an author, even though I didn't write anything. I guess it just came from my love of reading. So a few months ago I started trying to write stories, but it just wasn't very fun to me and most of the stories ended up unfinished. Then I started writing poetry and discovered I really love it. Since I'm super inexperienced, I came to this site to get some critiques for my writing and to meet some other young writers.

Hey! I must say, I like your current username, even if it wasn't what you intended! (One of my closer internet friends got her username from a typo she made while signing up for her first forum, and she's kept it since - go figure!) If you really hate it, though, one of the admins can probably change it for you, like Ofour said.

If you do feel you want to return to prose, don't feel discouraged if you don't finish things. In all of the time I've been writing, I've actually finished about ... maybe five things. From what I hear, it's a common problem and eventually you grow out of it. (I'm hoping the part about growing out of it really is true!)
Don't get me wrong, though, poetry's pretty sweet, too. (Even if I'm pants at poetry, myself.)

Long introduction aside, I hope you'll like YWS. (I know I do!)

Hey Carmen (lol),
What type of poetry do you write? I've tried poetry and failed, so you have one over me already. So welcome to YWS, where poets have an annoying advantage over me. Just joking.
Oh, and at the risk of sounding clíchéd, homeschooling does sound interesting... It's probably not though, is it?

Yeah I like homeschooling a lot. It isn't for everyone, and there are some disadvantages, but it really works well for me. I probably wouldn't like public school because of getting up early, and it would be too chaotic for me. Some people I know think homeschoolers are isolated loners, but that's not true at all! Where I live, there are a ton of homeschool activties and most of the homeschoolers are really nice. My mom is a freelance writer, she writes articals for the newspaper and sends out the e-mail newsletter for my city's homeschool organization every week. In between writing she teaches my sister Monica and I.

I think I'll keep my name for now cause I don't really mind it. And as for what type of poetry I write, well, I have mostly written free verse although I'd like to try some rhyming poetry.

Right, so I can call you Cameeno without having to do that embarassing 'let's start that again' thing? Cool. Welcome to YWS!
