OK, I've never written a fanfic before so this would be my first time. I want to do something that follows the story in FF8, but I have to wait 3 months before I can go home to do it because I need to play the game WHILE I'm writing the story so I can get the dialog and stuff right.

So, here's my idea. An average, everyday kid (let's call him Tylor) has just beaten the final boss on his favorite video game, FF8. He had so much fun doing it that he decides to do it all again. But when he selects "NEW GAME" on the title screen he gets sucked into his TV. When he wakes up he finds himself in a hospital bed. Beside his bed are two large swords (Let's call them Armageddon and Apocalypse). He also finds himself in different clothing. As if this wasn't confusing enough, one of the main characters from FF8, Quistis, walks into the room.

So the story is basically Tylor playing through the game along side the main characters as if it were real life. The fun part is that because he's already beaten the game he knows everything that's going to happen. He always uses the same alibi to explain why he knows things that the other characters don't, "I'm psychic."

But, if you're thinking this is just going to be one of those "if I beat the game I'll go home" stories then you're sadly mistaken. Aside from the Sorceress, the main antagonist is a man who Tylor never remembers seeing in the actual game. Later in the story you find out that the Final Fantasy world is actually the REAL world and the one Tylor is from was fake, an illusion if you will. This man (his real name is Kai, but he changed it to Ansem) and Tylor used to be the same being. When Ansem became Ultimicia's knight she split his being into two people, Ansem (dark side) and Tylor (light side). When this happened, his light side came out as an infant. The child was sealed in a dream-like state for 18 years before the seal was broken and he was teleported, unconscious, in front of Balamb Garden.

But, if he was in a dream-like state all that time and the world he is in now is the real world then how did he get the information about events that haven't happened yet and personal insights on every person he knows? Well, that's the mystery isn't it? You'll have to read my fanfic when I start writing it to find out.

Just something for you guys to look forward to.

I remember when my brother used to play that game. He would let me watch if I didn't talk.

I think this would be interesting. I was about to leave until I saw that you weren't going to make it like the normal "beat the game and go home" story. It should be interesting to read a fanfiction from a video game, especially if I only know the basic story behind it.

Okay, well good luck. I think I might check back to see if you succeed in writing this well.

I agree with royboy
actually, my older brother used to be obsessed with final fantasy

And, it does make it a lot better not having it beat the game and get out!

If you posed the story, I would totally read it, and i am looking forward to it being posted so Get on it!
