(Pretty close! Except he isn't British...But he is adorable!)
A jackass who doesn't know how to keep a friendship and is awkward and likes too many girls who will never like him back and looks better with longer hair than shorter but cuts it anyway. And likes to pretend he plays guitar. But he can't.

Hawaiian, especially because of the first name. Breck sounds Irish to me, so maybe mixed? Sounds like a headstrong woman who doesn't appreciate being talked down to. A hardworker and ambitious to boot.

because memory moves in orbits of absence, because she holds her hands out in the rain, and rain remembers nothing, not even how it became itself. - Las Ruinas del Corazon, Eric Gamalinda
I think of Lily Evans, and my own character, Lily Anne. So, maybe a devoutly religious, red haired girl. She has a temper sometimes, but she can also be very caring. Her hair is very long, and she often turns quickly, so that it whaps people when she spins.
Don't know if it is male or female, but...a tough Southwestern girl with curly hair and a sailor mouth. She falls for a soft-spoken poet, and is not used to his gentler way of life.
The "miss" makes me think she's very prissy, but Laura makes me think of an artist. So, maybe she's a really prissy, princess-y girl who really loves to draw and/or write. Her parents want her to be a lawyer like her mother, but she wants to be a graphic designer or similar.
Makes me think of Jude Law. A lawyer, just passed the bar, very successful. Undertakes a difficult case, involving a young girl, and comes face-to-face with his own childhood, finds himself rethinking his entire life, contacting the parents he hasn't spoken to since high school, reforming himself.
