Hence the description. All these cool world building aspects that I really want to yap about but I've had to cut from the book. I'll probably have additional information about the magic systems, world, characters. All that jazz!

Magic systems, you either love them or you hate them. Especially elemental magic systems. I know for a fact that my dad hates them. You might too. I personally quite like them. They’re simple but you can expand upon them and make them really interesting. Twists and turns and they can easily create a discrimination factor. It’s also really fun to see how a character’s element plays into their personality. But enough yapping from me.

Warriors
Spoiler

Type: Elemental magic system. Born with one element from birth but can learn to wield other elements.

Elements:
Fire
Earth
Water
Air
Plant
Lightning
Shadow

Elemental Abilities: These are abilities that coexist with controlling or wielding an element. Not all have these abilities.
Water: Lie detection (Only been found in one Water wielder, you’ll meet her later on), healing, suspending time (eyebrow raise), freezing water.

Earth: Controlling metal or crystals/gemstones, creating earthquakes or opening up giant holes in the earth. Thanks Juke! (Look. Earth had nothing so I stole from Avatar…)
Plant: Talking to plants, sprout thorns on their body, (Both of these are incredibly rare)
Air: Flight, increased speed, breathe underwater, (Don’t ask me why breathing underwater goes with Air.)
Fire: Heat inanimate objects up, immunity to fire (Phoenix Warrior. That will become relevant later.)
Lightning: Immunity to electric shock, (Look. It’s a fantasy world. Not sci-fi but Lightning needed something)
Shadow: Telepathy, prophetic abilities, (This will all become relevant later)

Elemental Relationships:
Water is weak to Lightning
Earth is weak to Water
Plant is weak to Fire
Air is weak to Fire
Fire is weak to Water
Lightning is weak to Earth
Shadow is weak to Water

Where It Comes From:
Fire: Fire wielders can create flame out of thin air.
Earth: Must have existing earth/stone to manipulate.
Water: Must have water around them to manipulate but typically pull it from the air around them.
Air: Must have air to manipulate.
Plant: Must have something plant adjacent to manipulate.
Lightning: Can use energy surrounding them. Electric? I’m not sure.
Shadow: They always have their “shadows” surrounding them.

The Fuel Source: Physical energy and often the materials around them.

Cannot Do: They kinda have free rein…

Pushing Past Limits: Lightning wielders can electrocute themselves, Fire wielders have been known to explode, but that hasn’t been sighted in many years, Shadow wielders will vanish. Poof!

Origin?: It’s believed to be genetically passed down, but due to the strict Warriors Code that cannot be determined.

Technical Tiers: Fire is the only one with “tiers”. They aren’t technically tiers but they function in that way. This is completely irrelevant to the story. I just was bored late one night and created this.
Every Fire wielder can create a flame with the top three colors all together in it. But wielding a completely orange or yellow flame takes some practice.
Red Flame: All Fire wielders can create. Simple and easy.
Orange Flame: Something you achieve with some practice.
Yellow Flame: Much more work.
White Flame: Only one has ever achieved this, Enya Fyfe, a dragonkin who lived many years before the Purging.
Blue Flame: No Fire Wielder has ever achieved this level. Many believe that Enya Fyfe died attempting to wield it. May have blown herself up…

Unique Situations: Very rarely a Warrior is born with the ability to wield two elements from birth. These are called bielementals. The only known bielementals are Alasdair (Earth, Fire), Asha Jinn (Fire, Shadow), (No. This is not a reference to my username. I was digging through my ancient magic notes and found her. The times I completely forget about characters *smacks forehead*) and Alaka’i Flamebringer is believed to be one, (Water, Lightning).

Mages
Spoiler

Type: Celestial Magic? All mages can manipulate the energy around them to create portals, pockets of time, and some can heal wounds.

Houses: The mages are divided into two houses, each with their own abilities.
The House of Fai: Confined to Goldenspire’s royalty, the Sunthorn Bloodline.
The House of Akarui: Confined to fairy royalty, the Silverwing bloodline.

House Abilities:
The House of Fai: Fire mages. They are Fire wielders that cannot wield their element so they are left with the extra abilities. They are immune to fire and wield light. Create shields and can teleport. Their magic is typically described as stars woven into shapes.
The House of Akarui: Light mages. Essentially do the opposite of Shadow wielders. Bend light to create illusions and and solidify it into a crystal-like substance.

Where It Comes From: Mages gain their energy from the energy around them. Much like Lightning wielders.

The House of Fai(The Sunthorn Bloodline)

Innate Trait: Total immunity to flames.

Light Element: Unlike the The House of Akarui they can create shields from pure energy. It is often described as “star woven”.

Shields: The shields can deflect almost anything, except Shadow. But each impact takes away from the shield-bearer’s energy.

Teleportation/Portals: Their teleportation is a unique thing that I haven’t fully figured out… They can enchant(?) objects that when placed against a wall that was also enchanted(?) it creates a portal to a certain place. Any suggestions on how to explain this would be greatly appreciated… Their teleportation is very typical. Imagine the place you want to be, focus your energy. And poof! You’re there.

The House of Akarui (The Silverwing Bloodline)

Illusions: Illusions! Their illusions often have a slightly blurred quality to them. So if you’re looking closely you’ll figure it out. They essentially bend light to create it. There’s a ton of science that go into it but, it’s a fantasy world. So screw the science!
Light to Crystal: Look, they can transform light into crystal. That’s all I’m gonna say.
Physical Tax: It’s exhausting. But! Lots of practice helps alleviate this, along with just being naturally gifted. (*cough cough* Queen Gwyneth).

Bloodlines: Mage powers are genetic so they’re passed down through the royal bloodlines. They can show up in individuals but they’ll probably have some relation to the royalty, however minuscule it is.
