New Events Tab

The Events tab is your one-stop spot to view the latest events ongoing at YWS. Check in on the Monthly event, check out What's Happening now, enter a contest, and join a challenge.

Contests

Head to the contests page within Events to see which contests are going on right now, and then feel free to create your own. Select prizes, add judges, and review entries directly from the contest page.

Challenges!

Enter a challenge for the month like writing 5,000 words or reviewing 5 works. From the challenge overview page, you can see the status of your friends, and once you join a challenge, you can issue that challenge to friends.

Check it all out!

By the way, I went with a community bulletin board type feel for the Events page -- hence the thumb tacks in the corners of different blocks. Also, if you use Strava, you'll notice that the challenges are very similar to Strava challenges. And just like Strava, there'll be dozens of challenges at some point. For now, keeping the number small as it gets fleshed out, but there will be a lot more coming.

As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, just shout.

Will these challenges eventually have unique rewards or profile badges that make them stand out from previous monthly events? I remember older events mostly being about participation, so it'd be nice if completing longer challenge streaks left some kind of lasting mark on your profile.

@lucaudvardy ->> Right now, you do get a badge in the trophies tab of your profile, but that's definitely something I need to work as the badges are meh.

I agree with you on challenges leaving some kind of lasting mark on your profile -- I'm just not sure the best way to do it. If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears.
