Yay!! Once we decide on a title (I may need the wisdom of the poets for help on this hehe) I will make the main thread so you can get her up!
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
See you guys tonight! I'm gonna try to knock out my CP before we meet!
Goals for tonight: 1. Finish CPs 2. Decide on SB name 3. Establish main story beats/arcs 4. Begin outline
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
First pass of a post-by-post outline DONE! WOOO! Will just need to learn a bit more about Zamir before we can flesh it out more
@herb are you good with the title Beneath a Flame Eternal?
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
1. IDALIA - Idalia has mainly been making her way to Claymeadow by foot. She has a few belongings, namely: a map and a page torn out of a textbook that aludes to something beneath Claymeadow. - When she finally reaches Claymeadow, it is in a poor state. - Solidifies her thought that she would like to explore beneath Claymeadow in any attempt that something might linger there. - Claymeadow is not as welcoming as it once was, and Idalia is disheartened by the cold tension in her old home. Many people are leaving Claymeadow, and because of tensions all across Blitzia, some Claymedians are hesitant to trust outsiders, especially sorcerers sniffing around town. - She knows her way home by heart, but she's nervous about seeing her parents again. - What if her parents aren't there anymore? What if they don't recognize her? What if they resent her for being gone all these years? - Her parents recognize her right away, of course. There are tears. There are big welcome homes. There are stories shared about both the happenings of Claymeadow, and a bit about Idalia's time in Vediatha, but she's not too keen on sharing much about her time there. - Idalia shares that she suspects something might be beneath the ruins of Claymeadow.
2. FARIS - An envoy from Ebony is asking Faris about the horses, acting like the king is looking for new mounts for his army or somethin. The envoy is acting all casual but Faris is highly sus (and for once he has good reason to be) and drills the envoy about why they're REALLY there and why they and their friends have been poking around Claymeadow. - The envoy doesn't break, but Faris is left with a bad feeling. - Potential flashback or memory of when the Loyalists came many years ago and took Idalia away - Establish the sorry state Claymeadow is in, and the pressure Faris is under to find a solution. Establish Faris' opinion on the prophecy. - At the end of the post, he learns that his niece has come home!
3. ZAMIR - Intro post - what is Zamir up to pre-expedition? - Establish Zamir's extra layer of knowledge that the Ebony envoys are most definitely not there for a good reason - Zamir knows one of the envoys from his past. Walks up to them after they leave Faris. Strikes a deal with them to be a mole to gain more info on Claymeadow leaders (like Faris) and get paid
4. IDALIA - Niece + uncle reunion! - Idalia has trouble recognizing/remembering Faris immediately, but it doesn't take her long to "Oh wait! Yeah! I know you!" - Potential flashback or memory of a younger Faris (during a Solkiln holiday/ceremony?) - Flashback would also be able to showcase what Claymeadow used to look like and more of Solkiln's traditions. Include something about Idalia catching fireflies when she was younger. - Shares what she found in the Vediatha library---historical texts depicting Ignia. Idalia suspects there's more to the ruins than what's just on the surface, and wants to investigate. Maybe there's something worth looking for down there, especially for a fire sorcerer who is horribly destined to be a baker for the rest of her life (unless she finds something else she can put her abilities toward, that is).
5. FARIS - Forming a plan over dinner - Discovery that Zamir has been eavesdropping on them... probably??? (Zamir is very persuasive and ultimately the Caldera family is just left confused and are half-convinced Zamir was just searching for his lost blue amber lizard pendant beneath their windowsill) - Zamir takes Faris aside and proposes his Plan (yeah, I was eavesdropping on you, and yeah, I know about the orbs now. take me with you and let me loot the temple or else I'll spill the beans and all of Blitzia will be raiding Ignia) - Faris: >:( does not like this guy but feels trapped. gives him a non-commital answer
6. ZAMIR - It's the next evening and the Calderas are making final preparations Zamir shows up, all packed and ready to go, and Faris tries to make him turn back but Zamir reminds him (subtlely - only Faris knows about the blackmailing) that he has no other option - Begrudgingly, post ends with Faris asking Zamir which horsie he wants
7. IDALIA - Saying bye bye to parents - Faris promises to take care of Idalia (which Idalia is grumpy about because she's a fully capable adult who can take care of herself) - Party sets off at nightfall toward the ruins - Idalia reveals here that she can, in fact, use her fire sorcery to conjure fire on her own. It is a small flame, but just enough to give them light where they need it.
8. FARIS - Arrival at the ruins in the morning - First obstacle - Butting heads with Zamir (as usual)
9. ZAMIR - Second obstacle - Zamir loots some goodies he can sell later - Finding a safe place in the ruins to sleep for the night - Perhaps: Zamir becomes aware of some sort of evidence that suggests that the two envoys are coming after them. He chooses to keep it to himself
10. IDALIA - Bonding time around the fire - Idalia shares a story about her time in Vediatha, or at least answers questions about it. Again, she has little interest in sharing about her time in Vediatha because of how much she despised it, but she is willing to appease the others' curiosity. - Faris shares a Solkiln legend about a fire sorcerer warrior - Zamir shares some top secret info/rumor he knows about the monarchy's use of fire sorcerers as warriors in the past - Idalia processing "I knew fire sorcercy wasn't meant for baking" (as she's begrudgingly baking their dinner)
11. FARIS - The final test before the temple - Temple doors are opened - cue star eyes emojis - Delve into Faris' faith here and emotionally what this moment means to him - perhaps he wishes his mother was alive and here to see it
12. ZAMIR - Time to LOOT THE TEMPLE!! - Discovery of what they've been looking for - the scroll for the orbs - Zamir has a moment where he considers pocketing the scroll and saying nothing, but either Idalia/Faris sees it or he decides to show it to Idalia Idalia attempts to follow the scroll's instructions and is moderately successful! waow! - Now that they've got it, discussion begins on who it should be shared with - Faris immediately attempts to shut down any talk of sharing it with outsiders
13. IDALIA - Idalia attempts to use the scroll to create a sun orb, and after a few tries ("Just give me a minute! It takes practice, okay?"), she manages to create an orb, though the light and heat from the orb are very dim. - As they begin their journey back, she practices creating the sub orbs. It drains some of her energy, but she does manage to create one that actually resembles what she'd read in the scroll. - Run-in with the Ebony envoys who have been following them - ruh roh!
14. FARIS - Attempts to talk things over go south - against Faris' urging, Idalia tries to reason with them and see if the envoys can use the scroll for good, but it's clear that this group is just looking for trouble and are going to use it against Claymeadow no matter what - Moment of betrayal where it's revealed that Zamir is a mole. Faris is FURIOUS - But then - in a moment where Zamir is about to hand the Calderas over (and Faris is torn between doing something rash to protect the orbs, or protecting Idalia by going along with it and becoming prisoners), Zamir does the opposite and seriously harms one of the envoys - Combat! Faris jumps in - Cut at a point where he's about to die
15. ZAMIR - Idalia saves the day (er, the uncle) by summoning her fire powers against the envoys. Both are killed, probably? - Crisis averted! Faris is shaken and humbled. Zamir is processing what just happened - he cut off a HUGE paycheck by sticking with the Calderas - Remainder of journey home is uneventful, and discussion for what to do with the scroll continues. They all agree that the scroll cannot go into the hands of people like the envoys. Zamir suggests an alternative to get the information out into the rest of the kingdom in a GOOD way. Idalia likes this plan while Faris is still stubborn about it. Typical Faris smh
16. IDALIA (mini post) - Time jump. It's been a few days and they've recovered from their journey. Idalia has settled into her home, and has perhaps started to help the tribe kitchen with prepping food (supplies are low) and has met with the farmers in secret to share the orb magic - Goes to find uncle
17. FARIS (mini post) - Heart to heart with Idalia. He's had time to think about the scroll and about the fate of Blitzia. He knows the information's gonna get out there eventually anyway. He has a full circle moment where he realizes that in order to protect Idalia he needs to protect the world as a whole (her future). - He agrees to trust Zamir.
18. ZAMIR (mini post) - Zamir epilogue
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
