My scanner has broken so i had to take pictures of them using my webcam. Thats why the quality is a bit rubbish. My theme is a modern take on the traditional "Madonna with child" etc, and these are the two images i'm using. I might actually do a modernised "Madonna of the Rocks", who knows.

A vapour sometimes like a bear or lion,
A towered citadel, a pendant rock,
A forked mountain, or blue promontory,
With trees upon't that nod unto the world,And mock our eyes with air.."

These are very impressive! I love them!

The only thing I would really suggest is that, the girl kind of looks like a statue. This is good if that is what you were going for, which is entirely possible and understandable, but if not then she needs a little more shading/features of reality I suppose you could say. Her hair could use a little more life-like detail, but it is very good!

I love the child sketch. I have a very hard time sketching a downward view--many props for this.

Did you draw these from portraits or from models/mirrors/etc?

Heavier shading on the woman could really bring out the features more. Realism, good choice, not that I think anyone would really do anything else.
You shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, instead, you should read every single book to see what every book is about before you even come close to judging its viability.

They're both from pictures in magazines i found. The girl's hair is scraped right back, the stuff all around her is material. Im planning to make it blue, like the original painting.

Cheers for the comments! When i re-draw it, i'll try to put some heavier shading in her face.

self portrait? it kinda looks like you. Love the work - keep it up
I open my mouth to sing, and you can see right through me.
I open my eyes to see, And I’m invisible
I look around me to take in my surroundings
And I disappear - And then the words begin...

That is awesome! I think the material on the girl's left (viewers right) looks odd, it doesn't look like material. The baby is wonderful and I love his delicate eyelashes!

Thats definately good work.

the eyes looks very real.

I don't think so any further shading is needed as Sponson Light says.

The picture of the baby is good too.
I wish ur scanner had not broken.

Wow, you're really experienced at drawing realistically. =D I really like the first two.

Just out of the blue, but do you have any suggestions at drawing realistically. Lately I've been trying to draw realistically.

It looks beautiful, Mooz! I can't wait to see the finished piece. Is this for an assignment or just something you wanted to do?

These are gorgeous, Muse! The hood looks odd, though, especially where it presses against the Madonna's temples; like there's not enough dimension there. Maybe fill it out a bit?
