light, ethereal, bliss, awe.

my idea is very simple this year. i met my first online friend last year. i will meet more online friends this year.

since the cities and countries have 30 letters in total, i figured i would start every poem with a different letter.

london, england. birmingham, alabama.

excited for the future, appreciative towards the past.

Day 1 - L

Looking for something that is out of reach,
or is it that I can’t bring myself to seek
out the truth, the answer, the solution,
to this cage I have formed around my brain.

Listen to the words spoken over the phone,
an incredulous feeling growing inside me
when I realize that April would forever be a
memory alongside my last year of college.

Well, took a detour and wrote 11 poems in one day, so here they are.

#1

along paths of rocks and moss, and
branches that spell out names,
rest carefully pressed leaves
although some people may drift,
here is a memory that will remain
admits the forest floors, for your
mind can capture the serene scenery.

a wisp in the air, a whisper out loud,
entering the quest space floating above.
nervous by the instruction, but eager,
a light awakens to stay hi back.

all through the classroom, pages rustle
left behind books clutter the ground
everything in motion, but still calm
xerox machine humming a quiet tune.

carefully reaching out into the dark, empty space
an attempt to connect, an attempt to stay
perhaps the start of a new eternal friendship

each entry a new chance in this harsh climate
the meaning of each moment changes daily
it’s hard to discover how to react, to explain
life to another person, even in a similar scene
yet the world strives to understand itself.

just the other day, the wind whistled,
hinting at what discoveries would be made
through why or how are never known,
the better to make the mystery of course

keep it still, this little mirage in the air
inside the screen, outside the window
the world cannot appreciate its beauty
although friends can teach how to love

leave belongings on the floor to keep
energy of a lighter feeling relevant
versus those that aim to strike out
into the harsh truth outside the door

reading into this atmosphere of stress,
it’s possible that the world isn’t out to
leave wreckage in its wake, but
each step, each drive, if not today or
yesterday, than some future day.

something else stands out in the light
under the sun and under the clouds
never seen by the people outside
never breathed clear air in many
years for a new life was going to begin

viridescent petals fall on the brown porch,
insistent on spilling color all around
nobody to appreciate them besides you.
