"considering that he is handling electronics, i don't think we would wanna spill any stew on the electronics, it would be safer if we stayed here and ate" she set the spoon down and looked at jamie
Melody smiled back, wiping the sauce from the corner of her mouth.
Ethan sat on the cold floor, watching the download bar as it crept slowly across the screen. His stomach rumbled--how long had it been since the others left for the cafeteria? He checked the clock in the corner of the screen. Only ten minutes...he sighed, leaning his head against the wall. The download was only twenty percent done and his laptop was already beginning to grow hot. Maybe I should pause it. Let it cool down a bit before I resume, He thought, reaching for the keyboard. As his fingers grazed the laptop, a sudden flash of light arched between the device and his fingertip. Ethan jerked his hand away, letting out a cry of pain. He looked at his hand to see if it was burned. Instead he saw a trail of light, winding its way along his neurons. It glowed through his flesh, illuminating the veins as it passed between them. Soon his hand began to grow numb. Ethan panicked, eyes flicking around wildly as he searched for anything that might help him. But there was nothing--only a laptop and a bare, empty corridor. He tried to scream, but his throat was still and stiff as cardboard. He slumped back against the wall, eyes drifting in and out of focus as they clouded with tears. Then, he heard a voice whispering in his head. Hello, Ethan. Enjoying your stay at the school? Who are you? That is none of your concern. What do you want from me? Oh, nothing much. Just a few favors. Like what? Let me live inside your head for a bit. Have a look around. Why? To get a feel for it, of course! After all, I'll need to know what I'm up against. ...You're a Warper. What makes you think I'll help you? Oh, you don't have a choice. I'm already in your body thanks to that handy little computer you've got. Did you really think putting Warped material inside of it would be a good idea? ...I never removed the sample... Correct. You know, for someone taking AP classes you really aren't very bright. GET OUT OF MY HEAD! No, I don't think I will. It's very cozy in here. I'm afraid you'll have to live with me for a bit before your mind is your own again. No... Ethan strained to move his muscles, to lift his head, to do anything. It was no use. He was completely paralyzed. The voice laughed. Oh, your struggles are hilarious. Stupid boy. Better luck next time! "ErrAGH!" Ethan lurched forward, nearly faceplanting into the floor. He gasped for breath, holding his head between his knees. Sweat dripped off the end of his nose and into his eyes. He took off his glasses, wiping his face with his sleeve. "Ethan? You okay?" Jamie was standing above him, looking down at him in concern. "I'm fine," He replied, scrabbling around for his computer. "Just a little frustrated. This download is taking forever..." "I brought you a sandwich," Jamie said, holding out the bag. "You didn't specify what kind you wanted, so I just grabbed a random one. Hope you like turkey." "Thanks," Ethan grabbed the handle, his fingers brushing against Jamie's. The other boy looked at him for a moment, still holding onto the bag. "Are you sure you're okay? You're all sweaty." "I-I'm fine," Ethan muttered, jerking it away from him. "It's nothing." Jamie sat beside him, leaning against the wall. Ethan could feel the sleeve of his T-shirt rubbing against his shoulder. "If you're overworked, you don't have to do this right now. We can wait until tomorrow." "No, it's okay," Ethan replied, unwrapping his sandwich. "It's best that we get this done as soon as possible. We don't have much time..."
her head shot to towards the direction jamie went and stared at it for a long while before looking away to continue her meal what was that..? she knew something wasn't right, this aura she felt for a slight minute seemed as if something or someone made it inside without setting off the alarms odd...
"we probably should see if the others are ok, are you finished eating?" she looked at melody, but a few seconds later her head started to throb and she quickly looked at the nearest corner of the cafeteria and saw a black abyss type substance there
"Yeah, I'm done," Melody replied, picking up her bowl. When she looked back at Ai, the other girl was staring at something across the room. Melody looked in the direction she was staring, but didn't see anything. "Another vision?"
"no, just something i saw" she then stood up, grabbed the bowls and set them where the other dishes were and then walked back over to melody, grabbing her hand and started walking back to jamie and ethan
Ethan watched the bar make its painful crawl across the screen, now reaching fifty-nine percent. He sighed, rubbing his temple. His head felt uncomfortably crowded, as if there were a second brain crushing against the inside of his skull. Suddenly he heard footsteps approaching. Looking up he saw Melody and Ai walking toward them, the latter with a very serious expression on her face. "You're back," Jamie muttered. "Did you finish your stew?" "Ha. Ha." Melody snarled.
she looked around, the aura she felt before, was stronger, melody seemed upset though but something was off about ethan, she tried not to pay too much attention to it considering the air was thick enough already
Ethan looked up at Ai, who stared back at him with alarming intensity in her multicolored eyes. Can she sense them inside of me? He thought wildly. What do I do? Should I tell her...? Don't even think about it. The voice snarled. If you say even a word about any of this, I'll break every bone in your tiny little body. Ethan lowered his head. A small, hot wire of anger burned in his chest, but it was outweighed by the wash of fear that flooded through him. This thing had already paralyzed him just a few minutes ago--who knew what else it was capable of doing? He looked at his computer instead. Seventy-five percent. "Almost there," He informed the others. "Only about half an hour left."
