Ky was pacing in the hall and stopped, looking stricken at Derik as he came out.
“…I’m sorry to have alarmed you,” Derik said to her. “I assure you you’ll not come to harm by my hand. I represent Levin, not Aleth or Makata, and I don’t do their bidding… and Levin isn’t aware you exist.” He nodded to her and stepped down the hall.

Ky didn’t really return the hug and but didn’t fight either, then watched them go, then glanced at the office. Was there even any point in going back in there? He was just going to lie to her more. No point in getting mad at him. She turned away, taking a few steps down the hall.

Ky strode down the hall slowly and deliberately, deciding where she was gonna go as she went. She eventually decided her best shot at answers were from Jerica. Maybe Derik trusted her anymore than Gaius trusted Ky and had told her the truth. And maybe she’d be willing to share it. Especially if she got liquored up.
Ky strode down to the kitchen and walked inside.
