Its like living stuck in the mud.
The same old routine,
The same places,
The same people.

You try to move things forward.
Add a chapter to your life
But you're running into a wall
Hitting your head again and again.

What the hell are you doing?
Why should people care what you think?
Why should anyone give a damn?
That's why - because maybe they care.

Just take a jump into the air.
That's what you should do.
Remove your self from the game.
Stop playing stuck in the mud.
There’s nothing to do, There’s nothing to see
There’s no where to go, There’s no where to be
I’m just sitting alone, In this empty room
Writing my poem, I’m over the moon

Cathy--

Good grief.

Poetry involves more than the ability to hit the Enter key. The language here is old, the images familiar.

In the future, it would be rewarding to ask yourself: How does this help tell the story that I'm trying to communicate? How is it congruent with the narrative? How does it contribute to the overall effect of the poem, other than to detract from it? And [i]most importantly[\i], why will my reader care?

These are questions I would have liked for you to ask yourself before posting this, especially the last one. For now, I ask that you write the idea behind this down and toss the paper you've already wasted.

Sometimes it's better to quit while you're ahead.

Best,
Brad
