Anna Politkovskaya, shot twice in on her way to her flat. I suppose it may have been a murder unrelated to KGB-like dealings.

But she's been doggedly unrelenting on Putin's government.

Not to mention the fact that she's the twelfth journalist murdered in suspicious and shadowy circumstances in Russia in the past six years.

Oh I read this just today! Apparently it was on Putin's birthday aswell (yesterday)! What better birthday present than one of the more vocal people against your regime silenced? Scary times indeed...

Its all the former KGB, without the Glorious Soviet nonsense. Its Russian dictators being Russian dictators, doing what they do best...killing dissenters. Especially those with large audiences (journalists)
