Euphemia Faleth

Return to Lux Academy

Creator: NPC
Roleplay: Lux Academy
Nickname: Euphemia

Name: Euphemia Faleth
Age: 18
Pronouns: She/her, but she doesn't really mind other pronouns.

Appearance: Euphemia does not have a welcoming presence at all. She's a very delicate-looking person, willowy and standing at about 5'11. Her face is stern and always set to a grimace, and rarely when she does smile, it's more of a smirk than anything. Never would she be caught dead genuinely smiling. Her eyes are the most sincere part of her face, a pensive shade of blue. Barely anyone sees her eyes though because her hair is just long enough to be swept in the way. It's mousy brown and could be described as murky even. Her choice of clothing matches the rest of her, drab and dark.

Thematic: Muted tones, chaotic minimalism, and the smell of old books. So much fog you can't see where you're going. Isolation, nostalgia, and survival.
Aura Color: It's a warm mauve-ish color. When it's partially active, it emits from Euphemia like a mild breeze swirling around her. When it's completely active, it's like rustling cyclone winds, turbulent and frenzied.

Magical Abilities: Euphemia doesn't like to focus on one thing at a time in most situations, but the usage of written language when it comes to spellcrafting interests her.
Affinity: Euphemia's aura takes on the form of a shimmer that spreads across her body and causes her to become invisible. It's only for a few moments though, but long enough for her to get use out of it. It could also spread to others, but she hasn't figured out how to do so yet.
Magical Weapon: A glaive, a staff with a blade on its end. Euphemia prefers it because it gives her more range.
Battle Style: Euphemia's battle style focuses more on her agility and speed, and she relies on her ability to dodge attacks. She isn't very powerful, so she tries to strike only when she has to. Getting the upper hand is all that matters to her.

Personality: She's a calculated individual. Most of her time is put into her education and willingness to learn, and she doesn't do well with others who do differently than that. Any situation where she is free leads to more opportunities to work on herself. She's highly competitive, but she would never admit that to anyone else.
Personal Strengths: She prides herself on what she can do. She relies on herself for everything, maybe to the point where she is her own closest friend. More attachments mean more things to lose.
Personal Weaknesses: Euphemia's personality often comes across as very harsh, and she struggles to communicate when something is wrong. She craves control of any circumstance.

Backstory: Euphemia spent her childhood in Glinthaven, in a generic middle-class family. All her parents ever wanted was a baby, despite the fact that they married already middle-aged. They did have a child, and they raised Euphemia the best they could. They were artificers, and they often promoted the idea that education is the most important thing in one's life. Needless to say, it had an effect on Euphemia.

Just like any parent-child relationship, she watched them grow older as she did as well. They had always been old, but teenage Euphemia really started to notice their grey and their signs of wear. Euphemia applied to Lux Academy the next day because if she couldn't help them, she could at least try to make them proud.

She never told them about her application. Maybe, in the end, it was more for her than it ever was for them.

Reason for Applying to Lux Academy: There are two main reasons. For the most part, she wants to carry in her family's footsteps. With that, there's also the sense of accomplishment that comes with attending such a prestigious academy.
Connections to Lux Academy: Both of her parents were students, and they did pretty well for themselves academically.
Personal Goal: She'd never tell anyone, but deep down, she wants to try to reinvent herself. Education will always be her highest priority, but she wouldn't mind making a few friends along the way.
Personal Secret: She has a soft spot for young children, and often tries to take on some kind of nurturing role. She never had siblings, and she tries to live vicariously through any kid around her.
Personal Fear: Euphemia is afraid of letting go, both of her parents and of herself. She can't handle change, but change is unavoidable.

Other: Euphemia is aroace, and she's pretty sure of it. She's currently questioning her gender identity.

Thoughts on Euphemia
Railyn: Railyn aint got time for that XD similar vibes as Thane, but I can also see Railyn taking Euphemia under his wing ^^
Cyra: I feel Euphemia would get annoyed with Cyra, which would make Cyra annoyed, so they wouldn't like each other very much.
Edalyn: Edalyn sees Euphemia as almost cold and uninviting, but she doesn't dislike her because of this - everyone has their reasons for acting certain ways. She respects Euphemia, but wishes she was easier to communicate with.
Thane: Thane likely steers clear of Euphemia. She can't put a finger on it, but she gives her a bad vibe. Even though others will likely view Euphemia and Thane as pretty similar, the differences in Thane's eyes are starkly clear, especially in terms of bluntness versus harshness. Euphemia might remind Thane of some of the people back home, but not the good ones she cared for, and that subconscious connection might also make her feel off around Euphemia, even if she doesn't realize it. Euphemia is like a piece out of place, a piece of home in a place that isn't home. It makes Thane feel unsettled. With her bias about Euphemia reminding her of many of the people from the underground rings she's used to fighting in, Thane is not going to trust her, and if Euphemia wanted her to trust her for whatever reason, it would take a lot of work and proof.
Kynina: Something about Euphemia would give Kynina the feeling that she prefers being more alone. Kynina does seek out the lonely, but usually just the ones who want to be included but aren't for whatever reason-- she doesn't go around forcing people who don't want to socialize. She'd give her some space.
Safiana: Euphemi Safiana is probably just going to treat just as yet another person. I don't see anything that will make her particularly curious or really much at all. She might admire the dedication Euphemia has to her studies and try to just sort of keep her at arms length sort of. Of course her being a bit harsh is just going to add to that but I don't know if Safi will want to interact with Euphemia enough to really get a full blast of said personality to begin with.
Ezra:
Aapeli: While Pel wouldn't actively try to be friends with Euphemia, he wouldn't mind working with her on group projects or something. He'd vibe with her eagerness to learn and would be able to relate a little to the own-closest-friend thing (though in Pel's case, that'd be because not many of the other children in his hometown could put up with his rule-following personality, not because of a fear of losing people.)
