Wav Scheinagon

Return to The Ninth Dungeon

Creator: Spearmint
Roleplay: The Ninth Dungeon
Nickname: Wav

Name: Wav Scheinagon
Age: 26
Gender: female

Race: Human
Role | Guild Rank: Adventurer | Rank D
Profession: Full-time puzzler, part-time healer

Appearance: Wav stands at around 5'8" and usually wears her black hair in a braid. She has green eyes, tan skin, and a slightly concerning expression, giving the impression that you don't really want to know what she'll do next, as it might involve something with your boot laces and jam. Wav dresses in a tunic and trousers, of which one thread probably costs more than a house somewhere.

Personality: Wav would like to be described as crunchy cheese. Cheese that has been melted then hardened may sound off-putting to some, but Wav believes that it is an excellent snack. Oh, was there supposed to be some sort of metaphor for her personality? Well, she supposes she can think of something... mm... Aha! Like crunchy cheese, Wav may eventually grow on you. (Or is that more like mold?)
Some may find her annoying. Others may find her entertaining. Wav finds everyone fascinating. She delights in getting to know others, and equally in hearing the lies they tell others and themselves. Yet that very enthusiasm can make it difficult for her to form deeper relationships-- it's as if everyone is a character to her, and their struggles are mere stories. To give her some credit, she has been attempting to learn empathy, and is realizing that there are things money cannot solve. But she is still rather stuck in her privileged worldview, and in her belief that the best snacks leave you wondering what you just ate.
- Strengths: Wav has exactly one talent, and that is confusing the socks off people. Well, maybe two, if you count stitching said people up and preventing them from bleeding to death. Or three, because Wav has actually recently picked up knitting and is getting quite good at making socks. Do you feel circular at all yet?
In three words: money, medic, madness.
- Weaknesses: Oh boy, where to start? Wav doesn't quite have a grasp on reality. The concept of mortality, in particular, is difficult for her to understand. (Ironic for a healer, indeed.) It isn't so much that she has a case of main-character syndrome as that she thinks everyone has plot armor. Furthermore, she is prone to panicking and just shutting down when things go wrong and she doesn't know what to do.
In three one word: unrealistic.

Magic: None. She does have an abundant supply of magical medicines, however.

History: Wav grew up spoiled. To be absolutely truthful, she is still spoiled. Her family paid for her training as a healer, as well as for her inventory of medicine. She is the second-youngest in a family of three sons and two daughters (in decreasing order of age: Max, Wilhelm, Maxine, Wav, and Melmoryr).
From stories her siblings have told her, Wav is aware that her parents used to be much more controlling. They hired private tutors for their first two children and enforced a rigorous routine of learning, physical training, and practice with the fine arts of architecture and landscaping. Then Max ran off to the Hungry Isles when Wav was an infant. The last person to hear from him was Maxine, via a letter that arrived years ago with vague reassurances and something about having found something "world-changing". Knowing Max, that could have been a new kind of cake or news of an apocalypse. Wilhelm promised to take over the family business instead, but soon ended up at Mount Bellur, cooking and singing for adventurers. When Maxine stepped up to lead the business, Wav's parents were thankful and wary enough to let their younger children have freer rein. As for what that business is? Well, on the surface, it's designing lavish residences for other wealthy personages. Beyond that, well, Wav somehow gets the feeling that she's better off not knowing.

Up For Love: Yep; pan!

Other: You may be wondering what "full-time puzzler" means. Well, Wav enjoys puzzling others, both intentionally and unintentionally. She would like you to know that she has been the official word puzzle creator for her parents' social gatherings ever since she was ten.

Deep dark secret incoming!

Spoiler
On one of her first missions, a party member was critically injured. Wav had healed injuries before, but this time it was bad. Really bad. She hadn't thought a human could look so mauled and still be alive... She went into shock for long enough that by the time she snapped out of it--the others screaming at her all the while--he was beyond any hope of saving. In the following days, she rewrote the event in her mind. She hadn't done a good job, sure, but she'd at least healed him enough for him to make it to a better healer as soon as they got out of the dungeon. He's alive somewhere, living a happy life. It... it wasn't her fault. Right? Right...
