Name: Rella Esmerti

Age: 28

Appearance: Rella has light brown skin and hazel eyes. She has deep brown, straight hair that she keeps in two braids and she stands tall at around 5'10". She also has classic bangs across her forehead. She's not particularly skinny but doesn't have a lot of curves to boast of either. She's attractive, and she also blends in fairly easily into a crowd.
Personality: Rella is mature and rational from an outside perspective, but out of touch with her own emotions on the inside. She isn't numb so much as she can't always discuss her emotions. She's very good at being someone else's shoulder to cry on and confidant. She doesn't often question things without prompting, which means she falls quite easily for propaganda or tricks of any sort. She isn't so much inclined to believe in people's goodness as she is just a bit naive.

History: Rella has lived in Vediatha for her entire life. She grew up privileged in that she did not particularly grow up poor. Her family was not rich, but they did survive comfortably in Vediatha, which means by outside standards, she would definitely be considered privileged. She has never left Vediatha, though she planned to do so when she entered the priesthood officially--which she has not done yet.

Her mother passed away during her studies as a dragon rider. She ended up taking a year off away from the Academy, which was extremely unprecedented, since she had already bonded with Vona, but she was approved by faculty and deemed not a threat by the monarchy. She continued to live on-campus but dedicated that year to religious studies, which were supported by specific faculty members. She then officially returned to dragon rider classes to complete her studies. Because of this, both she and Vona will have a very untraditional relationship and way of dragon riding. This is likely why she was not trained for combat, and was instead trained as one of the few dragon riders utilized to help speed agricultural efforts and serve other needs of the country.

She and her dad do not speak very often, and when they do, it is quite awkward because neither of them are very good at communicating their emotions or understanding them. She has a lot of growth to do in terms of emotional intelligence. At the age of 25, she graduated as a dragon rider, and took a couple of years to focus on helping with agriculture before she officially put in her request to be approved to go to seminary. As a dragon rider, this was unusual, but given that she wanted to be a traveling priest, she was approved, with her record of being a good student and citizen [i.e., not causing problems.]

Seminary is where she has been for the past year, on the outskirts of Vediatha and living with the barest essentials to connect with herself, Vona, and her Gods. That is when she was summoned to serve as an envoy. She consulted the priest in charge of her training, who said this was where the Gods were leading her, so she should attend to it.

What Faction is Your Character? She's VERY LOOSELY a Loyalist in that she doesn't consider herself to be one but if you sat down and asked her about the monarchy, she would give some very bland answers that were clearly instilled in her at a young age. She hasn't unworked any of her beliefs surrounding that yet. She believes that the Gods hold more power than any mortal king or queen ever will, and as such, thinks it isn't of very much importance to her daily life. She doesn't think about it. She is very privileged in this way [in that she doesn't HAVE to think about it.]
Views on Magic? It's a tool and a blessing, like most other things. She views it as extremely natural and tends to think that those with magic are more connected spiritually to the world around them than those without magic.
If Your Character has Magic, What Type? Water magic! Very experienced, having graduated both as a water magic user and a dragon rider several years ago. For the past year or so, she has been in seminary to train to be a traveling priest, but when called upon by the monarchy, one can't exactly say no. She is well-known in the community of dragon riders and Vediatha as a whole for her magic, but she primarily uses it for religious ceremonies and to aid agricultural efforts. She does not have much experience with any battle, beyond what she was required to cover in school.

Strengths: Talking to others about THEIR emotions and helping them. She is very good at connecting with others in a personal way and getting them to trust her.
Weaknesses: Talking to others about her emotions, and combat. She is not good at either.

Other: Rella is extremely religious and spiritual. Any religious stories are likely interpreted very literally by her. She's still grieving the loss of her mother, though it occurred several years ago while she was in dragon rider training, so water rituals have gone beyond part of her daily routine and have morphed into her only remaining connection with her mother.
