Aurelien Dubiost

Return to The Plague of Lumeaux

Creator: Omni
Roleplay: The Plague of Lumeaux
Nickname:

Name: Aurelien Dubiost
Gender: Male
Age: 125
Race: Frost Elf

Skills and Affinities: Aurelien is an accomplished White Mage for his age as well as a Frost Elf Scryer. Aurelien specializes in healing and recovery, and wadring and sealing, with an intimate knowledge in most types of magic and curses and how to securely store them and ward against them. Aurelien is adept at scrying and knowledge of what Frost Elves call Edelie's Breath, which is a mixture of air and water elemental magic that creates incredibly tough Ice Structures. The creation and manipulation of Edelie's Breath requires both halves of Edelie's Tears, which are incredibly rare crystals mined out of the high mountains of Crete Givree. One Tear is a deep blue, and the other Tear is a piercing white. Aurelien's application of Edelie's Breath is limited as he has not mastered this skill yet.
Weapons and/or Equipment: Aurelien does not have any weapons as he is not a trained fighter, like most Frost Elves. He does have both halves of Edelie's Tears which allow him a greater variety of access to Frost Elf magic. He houses these halves in a staff made out of Edelie's Breath. This staff is a double spiral and incredibly light while also remaining durable.
Aurelien also has a smaller Tear that he keeps in a necklace. This is for prayer. He also has a small pouch full of dried herbs, sealed potions, and carved elderbark runes. These are all for a variety of maladies and curses.

Appearance: Aurelien stands tall and lanky for a Frost Elf, standing around 6'2. He has an indented chin and dimples, and his cheeks are thin enough to show his cheekbones when he smiles. He has a small goatee of fine white hair, and his hair is white that sprawl out in every direction with bright green tips. Due to his hair's curly stubbornness, Aurelien keeps the sides of his scalp short. His eyebrows are just as unruly and thick as his hair, and they arch up in points near the edges. Underneath his eyebrows hide deep purple eyes that view anything and everything with striking intensity. Robes that are typical of Frost Elf Mages tend to dwarf him and envelop him. Instead, he prefers form fitting vests and pants of the common elves with a cloak. They make him feel more sophisticated and less like a child in clothes too big for him.
Personality: Aurelien is insightful and warm. He is curious about the world around him and believes things exist to do and be good. In that sense, he is somewhat naive to the way the world works and people's intentions. Sarcasm and jokes don't come to him easily (much his chagrin when around his best friend, Etienne) but he tries to be genuine. Ironically, even though he is curious, new things do intimidate him. He can get overwhelmed pretty easily and is prone to panic attacks.
Backstory: Aurelien was born 125 years ago into the Dubiost lineage. As a Dubiost, he was considered a scholar as all the men in that line does. Frost Elf culture is matriarchal (besides the monarchy line) and Aurelien's Great, Great-Grandmother was the head of his line for the first dozen years of his life, before she gave her life back to Edelie. His Great Grandmother, Availa Dubiost, created a strong bond and friendship with the Mauvelon Queen, Anadraya, and when Aurelien was 25 years old, still very much an adolescence, the youngest Prince was born, Etienne. Availa immediately promoted Aurelien as a mentor figure for the young prince, and for them to grow up together with Aurelien acting as sort of a big brother figure for the early years.

For the first few dozen years of their newly formed friendship, they both learned together and were the best of friends. Aurelion forged ahead in his studies while Etienne learned all the hallmarks of a good leader (even if he wasn't the crown prince) and how to provide for him, his family, his community, and his people.

Their friendship turned mischevious as Etienne grew up and the young prince became a young adult. Aurelien was constantly the one to tell Etienne that they were gonna get in trouble, and the one to tell him that he told him so when they did get in trouble. But, it was vital to Aurelien learning to let loose more. They crafted an incredible and unbreakable bond. They would rarely be seen without each other.
Other: Aurelien has feelings for Etienne that he doesn't fully understand.
