Queen Corelia Andromeda Erxina

Return to The Plague of Lumeaux

Creator: NPC
Roleplay: The Plague of Lumeaux
Nickname: Queen Corelia / Her Majesty

**WARNING: there will be minor TFR spoilers in Corelia's backstory. I doubt anyone is concerned, but I thought I would clarify.

Gender: Female
Age: Approx. 40 (age frozen from magic)
Race: Aubade Sylph

Skills and Affinities: Corelia is the closest the Aubades have to a goddess, and there are few—even among demonic tribes—who could fault that notion. Despite her incredibly kind demeanor and regal appearance, she's been described as having the strength of a beast, and is an absolute legend with her ornate greatsword. After all, she is the only known rival of the demon king.

As a side note, she is versed in Northern and Elvish languages, and has an extremely charismatic (and intimidating) nature that makes bartering relatively easy.

Weapons and/or Equipment: Corelia will rarely be caught without her Royal Greatsword, enchanted armor, and a backup dagger. And of course, her crown.

Appearance: Corelia is a tall woman, roughy 6 feet, with an athletic build. She shows signs of aging, but they are subtle, and she wears them well. She has light green eyes, and the ash-white skin tone and long ears associates with Aubades. Her hair is long, chestnut-brown with streaks of violet. Not only is the top layer of hair tied up in a bun, but the streaks are also decorated and segmented by gold beads.

Her armor is form-fitting with a black skin-tight undersuit—as all Aubade armor appears to be. The plates of her armor are much more ornate than the standard, of course, mostly a shimmering silver color with violet accents, plus the Aubade Emblem (a rabbit's head) embedded within the chestplate.

Personality: Corelia is well-spoken, graceful, diplomatic (at least before her temper has been tested), with a maternal aura that speaks to nearly all who meet her. If you were to meet her as an outsider, it may take some convincing to make a serious impact, but she would still hear you out and commend your bravery to approach her (especially in the presence of her defensive army). She's not immune to humor and can indulge in a bit of playful teasing, and like a lot of leaders, she does have a bit of a habit of exaggerating, downplaying, even telling little white lies if it means protecting someone or deciding what is best for her people.

Backstory: Many facets of Corelia's story are shadowed in mystery, especially to those outside Sybilius. Ironically, the (living) person who knows her best would probably be her sworn rival, Leiytning. But this is what we do know, from the outsider perspective...

Corelia was the first daughter and second-born overall of the prior leader of Sybilius, who was also the founder, Sybil Erxina. Corelia lost her father to illness when she was little, then her brother, a noble knight who swore he would protect the future queen, was killed in one of the earliest Aubade-Zyrean battles. After that, Sybil turned cold, and Corelia spent most of her early life confined within the Aubade Palace. When she wasn't studying, she was training until she could feel her whole body breaking down and rebuilding itself into a demon-slaying beast. At first, this was done on Sybil's order. But as Corelia grew, so did her desire to avenge her family.

When let loose on the battlefield, Corelia cut through Zyrean enemies like they were nothing but cattle. Except...for the Zyreans' own secret weapon. The then-beta and rival of their own leader, Leiytning. As well as a decades-long arms race, a bitter rivalry was formed there, one that would aid in defining the future of both tribes.

By the time of the Extinction Battle, Corelia had seen all sorts of atrocities commited in the name of this war. She knew Sybil was no saint in the matter, but even she was horrified when Sybil brought an ancient weapon into the fight, casting a wicked, genocidal spell that boiled the blood of all Zyreans, killing them from the inside. Due to a counterspell, only those with the blood of their gods were able to survive—their royal bloodline, Leiytning and his six siblings. Thus, even after all this horror, the hatred of the demons was too strong, and Corelia still had more resentment than empathy for her rival. They both knew the war would continue.
And so it has, through ups and downs—bouts of determination to end it for good, and bouts of sorrow with the pleading desire to just end it. But nothing has worked, and the Aubades and Zyreans are still locked in their war, just as Corelia and Leiytning are still locked in their never-ending stalemate.
