Lorcan McCarthy
Return to After Dark
Creator: Ranger
Roleplay: After Dark
Nickname: Lorcan, Lory by a few
Name: Lorcan McCarthy
Age: 47
Gender: Male
Species: Werewolf
Role: Guardian
Appearance: Lorcan has a strong build from many years of practicing with his sword and dueling with the more rowdy wards. He has a tanned complexion with a few scars here and there and the bite mark on his shoulder, greying brown hair with hints of red, hazel eyes, and a kind grin with a hint of trouble hidden in it. He often wears a simple t-shirt, pants, and boots. His sword he wears on his back, the straps that hold up the sheath being of a dark brown leather.
Personality: He's really kind with a hint of mischeif. He will absolutely use dad jokes whenever possible and with that, takes it as his personl responsibility to look after the wards just like previous gaurdians had looked after him in his younger years. Even though he's getting older, he still has the same energy, fire, and drive he did when he was younger.
- Strengths: He likes to look at things in an optimistic light and is always friendly towards the wards. he is very slow to temper and is very rare to get upset, especially with them. He would protect them with his life.
- Weaknesses: Sometimes he can have a hard time taking things seriously and his soft spot for the wards could potentially be used against him.
Powers/Abilities: He can change to his wolf form at will, the change being incredibly easier at night then during the day which can be taxing for him.
History: His family had always had distant ties with the Ginealach and the supernatural world. When he was a child, he fully believed in their existence as well as the existence of the fae folk, werewolves, vampires, ect. however, he can't remember why. Maybe a distant relative told him of them, maybe it was in his blood, who knows.
One day, when he was a young man, foolish and inexperienced, he decided to take up the ancestral family sword from off the mantle and headed to the woods near his home to practice with it. The sword fit well in his hands, the weight and balance perfect, as if it had been made for him. Exhilerated with the feeling, he practiced with the sword for hours, losing track of time. Soon enough, night began to fall, a full moon shining bright and brilliant against the dark night sky, illuminating the forest. And that's when he saw it, a shadow darting between the trees, something large. He raised the sword in a feeble attempt to fend off whatever creature happened to be out there with him but was untrained and by the time he realized it it was too late. The young werewolf, unpredictable in its ways, attacked, managing to bite his shoulder. It might not have had he not tried to stand up and fight it but feeling empowered with the sword in his hands, did so. Eventually he managed to fend off the werewolf, escaping with only the bite on his shoulder and minor wounds to the werewolf itself, and trudged home, stopping only to fix his shoulder at the nearest place possible which happened to be a veterinary clinic down the road. When he returned home, he lied to his family about what had happened, saying it was a rouge hunting hound.
But secretly he knew what it had been.
As the moon waned, it wasn't so bad, but when it began to wax again, he could feel some new part of himself trying to get out, trying to be revealed. He knew he couldn't stay and risk hurting his family so before the full moon came once more, he left without a trace, taking with him the sword and only whatever else he would need.
He wandered for a while in search of somewhere to go, somewhere to live where he wouldn't be a danger to those around him when he stumbled on Waterville. There, he found people who could help him master his new form and they took him in with open arms, teaching him their ways, and accepting him as one of their own.
He never spoke to his family much from that day forward as they had shunned him for running away, but that was okay, because the people of Waterville were his family now as well.
He stayed there for the rest of his life and eventually, made his way to becoming a guardian like he is now, finding others that could use his help just like the people of Waterville had helped him.
Up For Love: no thanks
Other: If one of the wards comes to him with a problem he will always listen and often cover up for them as long as it's not too serious, however he's also often the one who does things that could often get them or him in trouble and takes the blame.
He's like that one favorite often slightly bad influence uncle that you love but you're parents aren't too fond of.
