Brinley William
Return to The ARC Trials
Creator: WeepingWisteria
Roleplay: The ARC Trials
Nickname: Molatov
Name: Brinley William (AKA Molotov)
Age: 27,239
Pronouns: She/her
Sexuality/Up for Love: Brinley is currently dating Susan and Kate, so she's not looking for anyone else.
Appearance: Brinley has tan skin covered in faint freckles. Her hair is white and a little wavy. She's 4'10 but with a nice bit of muscle. Her eyes are a light gray. Her right eye is covered in a slightly faded scar that doesn't seem to have affected her eye at all. She wears loose cotton clothes that cover most of her body in mute cool tones.
Personality: Brinley is someone in the process of rebuilding herself. She's trying to find a middle ground between a firey, angry teen and a wilted, guilty adult. Despite all of the support she's been getting, it's been a hard time to find who she is outside of the life she previously had. She's sassy but sweet. She stands up for friends but doesn't often do the same for herself. Her emotions can overwhelm her to rush in without thinking or shut down and do nothing. It's a difficult balance for her.
Notable Accomplishments:
1. Being the catalyst for ending an unethical experiment
2. Solved the Murder on The Land of the Eternally Bound
Powers/ Inherent Abilities:
Energy Manipulation: Brinley can take potential energy and transform it into kinetic energy strong enough to cause explosions. The more energy she changes, the larger the explosion. It ranges from the force of a firecracker (damages only the object or person) to a pipebomb (damages a substantial amount of the surrounding area and nearby people).
Regeneration: After an injury, Brinley's body immediately kicks in to heal the damaged areas. This includes growing body parts and completely reforming Brinley's body after getting caught in an explosion. As long as Brinley's DNA still exists, her body can reform. However, she has been known to keep scars of particularly traumatic incidents.
Strengths: Brinley is, in theory, impossible to kill unless you found a way to completely wipe her DNA from existence. But thankfully she's not important enough for someone to have done that. If the only collateral damage is herself, she never has to worry.
Weaknesses: While Brinley has quite a few years of practice her energy manipulation power can still be incredibly volatile. It takes a lot of focus to ensure she's using the proper amount of energy and things can quickly turn deadly for her teammates if she's not careful. Her powers also require her to physically touch the target. She dislikes the heat because she already tends to run hot.
Backstory: For the first years of her life, Brinley was raised in a lab as a human experiment. She never learned who her parents were or why she ended up in a laboratory, all she knew was that she was being turned into a weapon of war and the experiment was government-approved, so there was no chance of anyone punishing them. Around seven years of being filled with strange chemicals, subjected to damaging surgeries, and living her life in a haze of pain and illness, she gained her superpowers. Until she was fifteen, she was put through test after test to see how much she could withstand. Thrown in various extreme temperatures, subjected to worse and worse injuries. And, of course, tasked to blow up bigger and bigger objects. When she turned fifteen, she finally escaped, blowing up the cells on her prison doors and running away. She left every child who was also in the experiment behind.
Her life in the regular world only had one goal: kill the man responsible for the experiment so everyone else could be free. When she was seventeen, she caught wind of her high-rise office, and she met him there. She wrapped her hands around her throat and used her powers to take care of him. The problem was, that she used way too much energy and caused the entire building to collapse, killing the leader, herself, and twenty-seven innocent civilians. As soon as her body reformed and she was conscious, she was arrested for the murder of the civilians and she figured she would spend the rest of her days there. From one prison to another.
That was until Kate Hardy chose her to go to the Land of the Eternally Bound to solve a mysterious string of murders. The Land manipulated her guilt to make her want to stay forever, but the help of Kate and one of her fellow detectives Susan helped her conquer the guilt that controlled her life. They solved the case and escaped, Susan, Brinley, and Kate all getting together and the former two deciding to spend a long time vacationing to show Brinley what it meant to feel safe.
Which brings her here. With Susan by her side, she hopes to pass the trials and become one of the newest agents for SWORD.
Aspiration Within the Agency: Brinley just wants to finally be useful in a good way.
Reason you Wish to Become Part of the Agency: Kate saved her from a life of guilt. She feels like she owes Kate the entire world, but the only thing she can do is pledge to help her for the rest of their lives.
Reason you chose to be a Hero: Brinley was never supposed to be a hero. For her entire childhood, she was told she would never leave those sterile white cells. After escaping and killing the leader of the experiments, she would have identified herself as a supervillain due to the civilian casualties. The first person who took a chance on her and believed she could be a hero was Kate. Brinley finally learned that her powers could be more than a curse she never asked for, she could help others with them. She could prove them all wrong. Including herself.
Other: No matter how many times she regenerates, the scar across her eyes remains exactly the same. It's like a keepsake, almost.
