Return to Snatching Second Chances
Creator: winterwolf0100
Roleplay: Snatching Second Chances
Nickname: Sophie, Soph
Name: Sophie Hooper
Pronouns: she/her
Species: Half-elf. She likes to think she inherited the worst of both.
Age: 33
Do they use Magic? If so, what kind? As a paladin, she has the typical healing powers, as well as the ability to sense evil, though she hasn't exactly spent a lot of time developing that. She can also de-enchant herself or her allies. Specific to her oath, she can talk to frogs-- or so she claims-- and she can breathe underwater through her skin. It is entirely possible she made up being able to talk to frogs. Who knows? Not you. Only time will tell.
Do they have any other fighting style? That's a good question. Does she? Does she have ANY abilities that might help their team and not plunge them further into chaos? Sure she does. She fights against all untalented street performers who haven't properly tuned their guitars, and she also fights against the urge to get drunk and go party all the time. :] Most of the time she loses. As for a fighting style, she has tons of style-- not fighting types though. She's complete chaos and kind of just goes at whoever's closest to her with her spear. She tries her best.
What's the trait that landed them in this group? She's a paladin that's way too chaotic. Also, she pledged her oath to a frog-- Lady Cordelia Agatha Bazir the Fourth. Other paladins think she's crazy. She thinks she got her powers anyway and now all she has to do is follow the orders of a frog, while they're stuck being a servant to annoying kings and gods. So is she actually crazy, or is she really a genius?
Appearance: Sophie is buff for no particular reason. She does not work to keep it that way, just exists. She has pale skin with light brown freckles all over her, and brown eyes. She has straight brown hair that is choppy and when it's down, it roughly falls to around her shoulders. She usually keeps it up in a low ponytail though. She's got a regular-sized frame, standing around 5'7", which makes her look slightly broader since she has muscles. She's not conventionally attractive but she is pretty in an androgynous, crazy kind of way-- she doesn't really care about her appearance though. And not in an "I don't wear makeup" kind of way, in a "I haven't brushed my hair in a week" kind of way. She's not consciously making a choice to be positive about her body, it just doesn't even cross her mind. She kind of just exists as a consciousness. Her physical body is inconsequential.
Personality: She's a complete party animal, and the very embodiment of chaos. She believes the rules are extremely important-- but she just likes to bend them a little bit. She also doesn't take things too seriously. She knows some rules are extremely important-- but seeing as the only rules she views that way are the ones dictated by a frog, the Lady Cordelia Agatha Bazir the Fourth, a lot of people do not agree with her being called a paladin. But hey, she's got the powers and it worked somehow. The only remotely-negative emotion she experiences typically is her extreme episodes of depression. She's coded with bipolar disorder, and in-universe she isn't diagnosed because it's not really a thing, but it's definitely there. Her manic cycles last for months at a time, so long that most people are only around her to witness that and never see her show anything other than that. When a depressive cycle hits, it hits hard. She's barely able to get out of bed. She feels drained completely of energy, and everything around her feels like the world is ending. The Lady Cordelia Agatha Bazir the Fourth tries to comfort her through her episodes, which usually last around three weeks to a month. During this time, she does way less than she does during a manic episode. She has a few "normal" moments, but her manic episodes last so long that she really thinks of "normal" as a minor depressive episode that she can still function in. She's on a completely different level of existing from everyone else when in a manic episode-- she doesn't take things seriously, but it isn't a conscious choice, she's just going crazy all the time and whatever happens doesn't matter as long as the Lady Cordelia Agatha Bazir the Fourth is fine with it. That is literally the only rule of life that matters to her. Oh, and protecting the Lady Cordelia. That is top priority.
Which Saurclaw do they have a problem with? Sophie's problem with the Saurclaws started with Fane. She was a little late to the Saurclaw-hating train, but she hopped on very quickly when Fane attempted to steal Lady Cordelia Agatha Bazir the Fourth. Now, he is amused by the incident, and Sophie detests him for it. (This is an enemies-to-lovers arc).
What town are they from? She has absolutely no idea. Ladon? Bedisa? Really, she isn't sure. She moved around so much as a kid that it's all kind of a blur. Was she near snow when she was five, or was that when she was fifteen? It all blends together.
Backstory: How did she get this way you say? Well, that's a very good question. Does she really even remember herself? Clearly she grew up somehow, but one might say she was a bit of a wild child who did not really have supervision at all from any adult person whatsoever. At the age of five, she was taken somewhere and taught something. Maybe her skills with a spear? Some of the basic hand-to-hand combat moves she knows? Even she isn't completely sure. Her mind has always been all over the place. She stayed wherever that was until she was twelve, and then ran away to nowhere. She travelled a lot, going back and forth with different groups who took her in. By the time she was twenty, she'd travelled in enough groups with paladins to know that however weird their oaths were, the added bonuses were awesome, and she was like, "Sign me up!" Except she was way too crazy for any sane king to accept her oath. So, she found the Lady Cordelia Agatha Bazir the Fourth, the lost frog princess in search of her former homeland. The Lady Cordelia was like "Whatever dude, I guess", and so Sophie pledged an oath to the Lady-- to take her wherever she wanted, doing whatever she wanted, and listening to whatever advice she had to give. And honestly? The Lady might be the more sane out of the pair.
Sophie hasn't really ever been super attached to any people. When she was a child, before being found and taken wherever she was taken, she was friends with a nice fox who helped her get food. And after that, she was friends with a lot of animals on her travels and adventures. Not getting really attached doesn't mean she doesn't like people though-- she just generally isn't upset or even affected when they walk in and straight back out of her life. But really, is that because of her personality or because she's never been around one solid person enough to be affected by any human emotion or experience other than complete manic energy?
Anything else? Lady Cordelia Agatha Bazir the Fourth is with Sophie at all times, and the only shortened version of this title is LCABF, her initials, pronounced La'Cabuf. Sophie is allowed to refer to her as "the Lady" and "the Lady Cordelia" but she is the only one. She will karate-chop anyone else who refers to her as such.
She probably joined the team during a manic episode where she felt like she could do anything, specifically during a moment she felt particularly distant from the world. Think of it as playing a game in third person and watching your character from above rather than first person. She was kind of like "this would be cool I guess". Also, the Lady told her to. Or maybe she didn't. Sophie can't really remember when it happened.
